Thread regarding Marathon Oil Corp. layoffs

Let's become a real Oil/Gas Independent

Now is the time for Marathon to become a real independent. Lee is still empowering Marathon leadership to act like an integrated. We need to eliminate all of the BS programs and processes that are holding the company/employees back from generating real value. These programs/processes are a real time s— and distraction that adds little value. Lee never purged the old integrated Marathon of the programs/process. In fact, he brought a lot of EXXON programs with him and has hand cuffed this company from becoming a great upstream company. Constrain HR, law, GSC, and HES&S. These groups have held us back from becoming the Premier independent oil company. TAll are zero risk adverse. Lee should look at the Hilcorp model on employee company ownership and accountability. If the employee does not have the best interest of the company in hand - they get fired. Lee - empower employees, down size these groups, and see our company flourish.

He / she is absolutely correct, but all the nervous nellies in these largely useless groups, HES, GSC, HR & Law (left out insurance & audit) are casting the negative ‘reactions’ out of fear for their jobs. HES & HR are ESPECIALLY useless.

GSC has been pushing the asset teams to be less risk adverse, but instead EOG continues to beat us on cost, innovation and efficiencies.

Too many Chiefs not enough Indians...MRO is too heavy starting on the 41st floor!!

What they need to do is eliminate all the fake without a purpose RVP’s, VP’s title wise and actually have personal handle issues at hand. We need action not words!!!! Words of integrity, being BOLD and Diversified are preached, but it is not an actual occurring action.

I think I heard the words more than participating or witnessing these actions!

It’s difficult to hire engineers so they’re holding out as Kong as possibly with them on staff. Otherwise it’s gonna get really expensive to hire new ones when oil gets back to $100/bbl on the next four months.

The whole co could be down sized.. Every department and of course the many, many VPs that this co has.

Why stop there? There are plenty of deadweight engineers as well. How many engineers do we really need for 4 rigs?

I really doubt HR has been holing us back, they are what’s keeping us premier, p–p. But I agree with you completely.
