Job cuts are in progress, it's affecting many at OptumInsight. Both directors and VPs are being let go - managers and below as well. It's really bad and folks are emotional. We are minting money so I really do not understand why do they have to do such savage things in the middle of a pandemic.

Yes. If they do not bring their profits. Departments, staff, etc. may be gone. That was the USA. All about money getting. That's it. Ain't rocket surgery lol.
depends on profit. that's all that mattered. the newly acquired medical group was bought and sold AGAIN because it was unprofitable. They have certain margins /profits to make. and expand each quarter-year. If they don't then heads may roll. It was a terrible place and well known as such. would keep your resume refreshed and don't trust anyone there. It's a corporate swamp

I am truly sorry to hear. I understand that this is upsetting and folks may even feel betrayed by the lay-off having worked long hours to help this company rack up its profit. Upset or not, please refrain from blaming "the foreigners" for the company's action. The foreigners did not steal anyone's job or made decisions to lay anyone off. It is the decision of the company to put profit before people. Until healthcare is guaranteed for all, until people's health-being stops being a money-making commodity, until people stop voting against their own interests, insurance companies will continue to see the sick (and their employees) as nothing more than a money-making device.
In this time of civil-unrest, please put the blame where it belonged, in the hands of corporate greed!
What I can tell you is to hang on to your boot straps....The Job Market is Very Very Tough right now. No matter what anyone tells you, its very tough out there and expect to be out of work and income for a while. There are higher level UHG people who were layed off in 2018 who still haven't found employment yet! And they are highly skilled and respected people.....

Because Corporations run our country...and it is BOTH parties, equally guilty....and is really our own fault. We have voted to keep all these crooks and sell outs in power regardless of of their actions.

Everyone in Optum, regardless of your team or line of business MUST take the attitude of "it is not a matter of IF I will be laid off, it is a matter of WHEN I will be laid off". There is zero compassion in this organization, it is rather sad and disgusting. Lay me off now and put me out of my misery, please!!!!!

This numbers look great because they keep people off. Eventually they need someone to do the actual work instead of flying around in private jets and paying celebrity golf pros - this company is imploding.

They got me good. Had me working full tilt (long hours) on a big project until the brief call to say my job was eliminated. Rah Rah, we're all in this together until you're not. What twisted mind cuts older workers in the middle of a pandemic when there is plenty of work? Beware young folks, you will be in my shoes soon enough.
