Has anyone else heard this?

I remember my first day taking Uber and in a casual conversation, driver mentioned this is really a good place to work at. Once I joined I really felt the way each and every individual was passionate about what they were doing (well few exceptions!) but I was flabbergasted when Leadership made a bold statement of being wrong in some of the product decisions. However that was really a let down for me personally. Skipped dates and deliverables were a huge let down for me as an employee and a customer. Leadership did not helped me stay motivated towards my work. Few of the fellow workers got axed and others are fearfully waiting for the final call.

Well layoffs (happening in the next two weeks) were confirmed today for CED. Don't know the timing of it. "Thanks for all your help getting these products out but we don't need you anymore"

Please do report back, thanks! "So tomorrow, a all hands scheduled for 15 minutes for whole CED by it's VP. What do you guys think?"

So sad to see what is happening. Any insight on how large the impact will be this time around? Or which groups will be impacted?

It appears the 3-year push to get products finally out the door (many initially expected in 2019) and few new products in development still equals excess people (expense) across the company? The timing of October, after the surge to get products out the door, is apparent?

Then as someone said, Dec/Jan has been an annual reaction to lack of profit and more layoffs.

Encourage all to keep factual information flowing and encourage others to pitch in. I for one know this source of largely factual information in June/July was priceless given the near-total lack of transparency and internal communications. It helped many negotiate a very troubled time and helped prepare them as they were being shown the door. Sad it has to be this way, on a forum like this, but that is the reality witnessed over many years now.

Yes layoffs happening before Oct is over.
Also another round next year if products don't do well.

Yes. This is true. Around 3rd week of October, people who are affected will be notified

It's so sad to see things like these happen in a company, which was once a great company

When the large reductions started June/July, some communications indicated getting to "30%" might continue into the fall. (After the surge required with the remaining people to get the new products out?)

Like every year for the last 6-8 years, the big tell will be in December/January. Major actions always come after that. Thousands have been laid off in annual actions. COVID was the only reason some actions were delayed this year, after a very down 2019.

Good news, many of the expected in 2019 products are now out the door. Hoping for the sake of all they are all really done with quality this time around and can withstand the strong competitive forces in play during the primetime selling season.
