Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

Restructuring (on the Horizon /sic/)

My guess is that they'll have to announce some kind of structure by end of September.

Then they'll have to notify those they'll let go.

I thought this was the "60" day period before the employee has to leave.

I know they absolutely want to get this done by the end of this year so they can pay out all of their expenses by end of fiscal year.

My heart goes out to all of those who are worried.

I wish I have answers for you.

When bp went through this a few years ago in which I was not confirmed for a spot, I had learned that they brought in consultants to facilitate the process. So, yes, I'm rather certain they already have a list of who they want to keep and who they want out. I completely understand the stress you guys are under. I dealt with it by completing my projects and obligations and try to exclude the outside distractions. A calculation of 60 days from the end of this year is November 21. So it is consistent with when level G and below will be notified. Hang in there guys. There is light at the end of a tunnel and things will get better. I'm not sure I would say the same for those who remain because their workload will be much higher, and the expectations and competition will be worst.

Incorrect. Scoring is done yes: but there is no visual on how many 'seats' are available. So yes all 10 pipeline engineers are scored but are there 5 slots available? or two?

Rankings have already been done by your manager, so they might not have exact names in each role, but they certainly know who is staying and who is leaving.

Whole process is fraught with error although I suppose there is no perfect way. Long and short of it you can be sure the “elite” already know the “elite” who are staying. Very few surprises. If you have an intuitive anxious feeling you are on the chopping block then start getting ready now. Take care of your loose ends and power forward on your OWN behalf.

How are they likely to already know? T3's are not in seat (who decide on EOI acceptance) and slating process isn't until October.

Level G and below will be announced end of November. Just so much waiting and stress when they are likely to already know.

So Tier3, which are people who report directly to Senior Vice Presidents, will be announced at the end of September. Everyone else will learn their fate by mid November.
