Thread regarding Cox Automotive layoffs

Another big round coming just before the holidays!!!

In about 45 days or so there will be another massive round of layoffs coming. Anyone who escaped the last one shouldn't be too comfortable. This time will they plan to eliminate or drastically reduce the majority of severance packages especially for longer term employees. More to come. Sleep tight :-)

Nope. I will absolutely not give cox auto one second of respect. Telling them anything about the job ive landed? Not my problem. Ill give them as much respect as they gave me during the furlough, and lay off process. Which was lie, hide, and lead people on. They deserve nothing more from me, and I deserve nothing from them. The severance is just money I would have received anyway had I not been furloughed. Theyre a joke and if Im working for a competitor so be it, come after me. They could care less anyway. Cox Automotive doesn't give a sh– about employees or dealers, they rely on products dealers are forced to use because they dont have a better option. Just like their cable service. People are stuck and have to deal with them. So in turn they couldn't care less who they crush in the process. Oh well.

It seemed like you only needed to let them know if you wind up working for a sister company? Or was it a competitor? Was a little hard to decipher. But good for you that you found a job!

Curious if anyone is following protocol for the transition agreement regarding letting Cox know you landed another job?

I saw a whole team get laid off in the last few months to have most of the same jobs posted again with slightly different titles. Very frustrating. Seems to be most people impacted were 10+ years with the pensions.

All companies purge dead weight who are getting paid too much to do something a younger person will do for cheaper and more efficiently. Get over it.

people definitely see the RIF and re-hire. people are starting to realize the the "cox cares" "our employees are our greatest asset" is a line of garbage . no one trusts these leaders anymore. if youre not a VP or above, good luck. cox is complete and utter joke in the industry. the dealers hate them, and hate what they've done to the industry. Just because theyre the biggest doesn't mean theyre the best, and doesn't mean they wont collapse faster than the titanic did. its coming and waive your pension you stick around for good bye.

Eliminate roles and shortly after rehire the same role is what they do. They think people don’t notice. I happen to personally know several leaders who have admitted as much. It’s a big game to them. They fool people with the cox cares lines and life at cox BS it’s all a sham. They knew in 2019 or earlier that this was the plan. Way before covid. Complete dirtbags to put people through furloughs, pretend they’re coming back to lay them off anyway. It takes a special breed to do what they do to families and people and sleep at night.

Cox doesn't care, they think no one is watching. Their bottom line has definitely been hurt but they are also taking advantage of the pandemic to do reorgs/layoffs and "different" hires unrelated to Covid. They are brutal. It's nothing new. But every person they layoff is a person who can't buy a car so their customers/dealers should be p-ss-d. Those people are now just the government's problem (and your problem as a taxpayer). My deepest sympathy to all affected.

Curious how Cox is able to complete a large RIF, then post the position which was impacted days later?? Wouldn't that be grounds for a lawsuit??

I believe it Most of the rumors posted on here have been pretty accurate wouldn’t be the first time Cox makes sweeping layoffs before the end of the year.
