Depending on the area you work, it would be relatively easy to switch to automotive. I did it last year after 10 years with Boeing.

Plenty of automotive companies hiring nowadays.

Dodge the bullet once again but these layoffs keep coming month after month. Starting to apply for a new job as its only a matter of time before I'm let go at this rate. I may need to switch to space, defense, or automotive. Really not a lot of jobs for Mechanical Engineers out of work right now.
