Frontier Bargaining Update!

The Frontier and IBEW Local Union 824 bargaining committees met this week on Thursday the 17th and Friday the 18th for formal contract negotiations. During these meetings, the company presented several proposals concerning the duration of the agreement, medical benefits, retiree healthcare, 401k plans, and pensions. The company also gave an update on its bankruptcy plans and the ramifications of the Cares Act.
Your bargaining committee is reviewing the proposals and will determine the best way to proceed.
Please continue to support YOUR bargaining committee by wearing RED on Thursday and BLACK on Friday. Continue to work the rule and please plan on attending the general meeting on October 2nd. We will continue to keep you informed with any updates from the bargaining table.

"my lawyers" lol a union steward isnt even close to a lawyer on their best day. They have absolutely no qualifications to even represent you. Dont let them convince you that sitting through some Mickey Mouse online training and a paper print out certificate gains them any kind of qualification on how to collectively bargain. If you really need any proof of how incapable they are, take a look at the areas that are still waiting for a contract extension, talk to the folks that have 40 years in the company (and will not get out of the way to make room for new incoming members to enjoy these benefits they gloat about fighting for) that have been in picket lines for weeks or months on end not making anymore than the few bucks they get in strike pay to put gas in their car and bring their behinds back the next day because the union needs a physical representation to make it seem like people care and warrant that union head office for making $80K/year for their employees to harass the ones doing the actual work to keep paying dues so they can keep these benefits - sounds like a pyramid scheme yet? Biggest scam that is still going! The benefits they tell you that they are fighting for a basic granted labor rights, you do not need to pay dues to receive these and these stewards are about as closed to lawyers as webMD is to doctors.

I heard from Cletus that union stewards in the union hall make $80k a year and get a car allowance.

Quit griping about what the union doesnt do and throw on that red or black shirt. I love how a union tries to create opportunities and collective bargaining while forcing a uniform. Keep paying these folks, its doing a lot of good.

"Reviewing the proposals" translation - we know what our Masters have told us to do. Now we have to figure out a way to screw the membership again so no one realizes whats really going on and the committee can make claims we did our best.

Doesn’t sound like bargaining to me. Sounds like the company said this is how it’s going to be. Knowing IBEW 824 they will fold like a bad poker hand just like they always do. Just like how they gave away our FREE Healthcare a couple years ago to Verizon (so that they could wrap us up in a nice little bow for Frontier) and didn’t give us enough of a raise to compensate for it. Or how before that they gave away all our good holidays in exchange for a few measly floaters. But hey we get that big win when they get 3rd cousins covered for bereavement. That may play well in West Virginia where they marry them but it never helped us!
