Heard from multiple sources that there will be cuts in many areas in 2 weeks. It never ends at this place

My group begins next week!
When is this supposed to happen?
Working for Staples is what I am assuming dying of cancer feels like. The work itself is painful and you know one day you will be terminated regardless of what you do.
Good! Still way too much dead weight at corporate. Start with the amateur website developers, then go to the ones who think publishing The Loop actually brings in business. Consolidate teams so you can get rid of managers, fsd's and rvp's that don't create a dime in sales. There, you just saved $5 mil and didn't get rid of a single salesperson or cut your sales.
they have no mercie you gus good luck i got lay off on June im o better place.
What areas are you hearing that there will be layoffs in?
Cuts definitely coming. Was informed of budget cuts this week. Every time this has happened there has been a headcount reduction shortly thereafter.
Another bloodbath is coming. Hit your KPM numbers or else.
The SB they were referring to was one of the former VPs of new business that were served up by the SVP of new business development so he could stay.
I was let go in 2018 so I do not recognize many of the folks mentioned in these posts, but I worked with SB and he was one of the best leaders I knew at Staples. I would urge folks to leave before they get whacked.
Is the “SB” you’re referring to the CFO of Retail? If so I’d be shocked. Sure he had integrity but only so long as it was in his best interest to be ethical. SB did anything that his boss JH told him to do. Also I believe he was there for like 30 years which doesn’t put him in the “brightest bulb on the circuit “ club. Just a really good a– kisser.
It truly is sad in regard to what has become of Staples. The leaders that truly cared about the people and culture are gone, many of whom were treated terribly by the new senior leaders, and surprisingly, by JG as well. I am not sure if his new role changed him, or if he just has to do what SD and JH say in order to save his own skin. Seriously, how does the company let SB go? People would run through a brick wall for that man. Even more egregious is what they did to RP. Just to send a message that nobody is safe, they blindside a great person that gave his best every day and had dedicated the majority of his career to Staples. He was shocked, embarrassed and humiliated for no other reason than an unnecessary, heartless move to show that there was a new CEO in charge. Again, I can't believe JG let it happen, but he must have felt he had to obey orders or he would be whacked as well. We all know how that unfortunate event played out in the end.
That was followed by JH pushing SK out of Furniture and putting KAC in the role. Oddly enough, SK had led Staples to the best year Furn had every had, buy she apparently did not play the s—up game with JH. Good for SK! The KAC move by JH obviously did not play out well. KAC was not right for the job, but at least she jumped ship before JH could push her overboard. Now we have RQD?!? I thought she worked for LinkedIn? (Yes, I know that topic has been covered many times on this site)
Then we have the June RIF of 1/2 of the RVPs. One could see a few of those coming, but others made no sense at all. Nothing against AF, but it is a stretch to say that he was ready for an RVP role. The CF move is even more of a mystery. I can only imagine that JG did that for optics or because he was told to. Take a survey of that region today and see how they feel about that change of leadership. An accurate reflection of the complete disconnect between FHAM and the field. Someone has already addressed it on another post, but many agree that the KM RIF was to eliminate the remnants of the former senior leadership, and they couldn't take LM out given that they had just moved her to Chicago, and it would not look good from a gender balance perspective.
Then they bring in SS to lead BD. Nothing against SS, but SB was the right person for that role. If not SB, then BT or HA. I heard that current Staples employees didn't even get a phone call. I guess being a high performing Staples veteran is now a detriment to one's career. Those of us veterans still on board this sinking ship should keep that in mind. That is probably why BT and HA left Staples. We should also keep in mind that MH just left as well. Her region piloted everything related to GTM, she was on stage at the FL sales meeting and she was recently promoted to a role that was supposed to make Staples competitive again. She just jumped off the ship as well.
Are there more layoffs coming. If recent history is any indication, then the answer is YES!
Glad I was let go back in June after 16 years. Best thing that’s ever happened to me! That place is beyond toxic.
Typical sycamore partners. Trash raise for being overworked and I expect after giving a bad review that I will be laid off regardless. I already checked out from this garbage a– company. Best of luck to everyone that stays
It’s sales. New ikam model is already seen as unsuccessful
Go vote.
I would imagine Outside sales. The TAM KAM model was just a mess once they bulldozed books to fit with GTM. I have no idea how they can cut even more from Corporate, the damn building was already half empty at the start of the year!
In Canada or the US?
Retail or SBA?
Ideas?
Jump ship before it takes you down with it. This is the worst disaster since the Titanic!
Sadly, this is corporate America's new reality.
Good luck everyone!
Details? Sales, home office?
Are you really surprised? This is the worst company I have ever worked for.
