Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Why are you praising her

Do you think VH wanted to extend WFH or was the overwhelming sentiment too loud to ignore. The EC, while dumb, isn't oblivious to their peers who are doing similar. This isn't VH being great. It's that she would be vilified if doing anything else right now. She needs any sort of wins to stay afloat and will surely use this as a catalyst for her to remain in the good graces of the sheep mentality that a good number of employees have.

This decision contradicts what she stated on the podcast recently where she wanted employees back. So it was pressure that kept her from pulling the trigger. Good for whom ever has her ear. However, it doesn't fix the mistakes she has made to date and the poor leadership she has displayed. It doesn't take much to realize the integration has failed in many key ways. The fact that we still even use the terms like LOXY and LAPC is proof that even management is aware. Its been over a year. Come on, thats like moving houses and still one year later you are still eating off paper plates because you haven't unpacked your dishes. Systems and teams havent been integrated and it makes us look like a joke when the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Guess what, it starts at the top (so called brains). Then the actions will trickle down. I can guarantee the data being presented to leadership isn't the full story because of the adjustments needed to collect it from the many systems not integrated. Its plain and simple, she has failed you as a leader and you need someone to shake things up and question the current path and narrative. It will be hard rebuilding but its better than continuing down the path of inadequatcy.

I am so mad that we have praises for her and anyone else on the EC vs screaming for change.

Really think where you were just 1.5 years ago as a company vs now and know that covid didn't do all of this... it was VH and the EC and the BOD. Change is needed now.

NO more young interns unless they actually know anything and are willing to work and LEARN what they need to know. Have had my fill of these Young interns who become know it all employees and barely contribute, stay locked up in their offices and don’t communicate, don’t take initiative, etc.

Oxy has always been know for it’s poor organizational structure. Shouldn’t be surprising that the merge of the two organizations has been so badly done. There’s so many redundancies and unnecessary managers in the middle who don’t do much but keep the seat in their house warm. And no, Oxy doesn’t need new employees, unless it’s more young interns to replace those 10-20 years of experience.

This isnt about politics. The OP is talking about the company's position right now and not a judge.

She/ He is talking about an inadequate leader who is skating by because of people like you trying to make everything about liberals vs conservatives or boomers vs melinnials. Its about if you wan this company to succeed, there needs to be change and the OP is stating it should start at the top who got us in this situation in the first place. The company was going to scheet before corona.

Poor leaders do what the little people want instead of what is good for the whole organization.

Do you think Oxy is just following that id–t judge’s take on the situation in Harris county?
