Sears at Silver Spring, MD has the entire ground floor open, they moved everything upstairs. Is that for lease?

OK, just wanted to clarify what I found. I contacted the realtor company listing all this. These stores are not necessarily closing per SAY. They are potentially available for sale or lease, and ONLY IF someone were to buy it then the stores MIGHT close. But if these stores are NOT sold, then Sears has no intention to close them as of now. So as of now, NONE of these are closing, and none should be removed from the current lists. This might change, but as of now, when the last closing lists Winds down, there will be no liquidating stores (unless and until a new list comes out). But THIS STUFF discussed i this thread is NOT a closing list. These stores might or might not be leased for Years, meaning these stores might not be closing Any Time soon.

Yes, a real estate play cooked up by two hedge fund managers who have gone down as the biggest embarrassments of the last 15 years and turned vast fortunes into tiny ones was done "by design". Smart thinking there bucko.

"Retail Way said that there is likely to be a round of closings coming up with those listings as evidence, but also stressed that there is no official statement or confirmation from Transform Holdco at this time."

LOL at anyone looking for official confirmation from them. I doubt they'd even confirm that stores that have long-since closed have been closed.

"All this information was foretold....etc etc"....

With the condition of the company right now, predictions like this are as dramatic as predicting that the sun will rise and set tomorrow morning.

No big news scoop here.

On the JLL.com website, the Greensboro NC and Glen Burnie MD stores are also described as "former Sears" despite being open. And both of the Michigan Sears stores are called "former Sears" on a different real estate website.

The only thing that Retail Way confirmed was the real estate listings of the Sears stores in Westland Center in Westland, Michigan and in Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, Illinois as “former”, despite still being open as usual. Retail Way said that there is likely to be a round of closings coming up with those listings as evidence, but also stressed that there is no official statement or confirmation from Transform Holdco at this time.

All of this information was foretold by the Kmart store manager on here earlier and confirmed by the Facebook group “retail way.” Stay tuned to more information!

I thought Sears owned the Greensboro location as Whole Foods and Chick Fil A pays rent to Sears?

Losing profit over 15 years was all done by design. It’s obvious, looking back that it was always a real estate play. I’m surprised people still bring up Eddie losing profit, when it’s already been discussed now on this site for sometime.

You'd have to be incredibly incompetent to not turn a profit on Sears and Kmart property after 15 yearsof trying but somehow Eddie's managed to do it. Not only does he not understand anything about retail, he doesn't understand anything about real estate either.

Who in their right mind would sublet a property to either Sears or Kmart?
