Thread regarding Marathon Oil Corp. layoffs

The Dirty Side

Is anyone still old enough to remember the good ol’ days when a hurricane in the Gulf meant “go home and take care of your family”? Say what you will about “ old school” leadership, but Cazalot wanted us all to live. I remember a time when MRO would hook you up with a generator and gasoline, diapers for your kids, pr-scrip-ion refills or whatever MRO could do that you couldn’t. Marathon was never perfect, but back then the company would leverage its influence and logistics to help the employees.

Now we are a small company, led by smaller men with smaller reach.

In my interview I said I was great at working under pressure. I did not agree to die to for the company. There's a difference.

Along this line, does anyone know the status of the 2020 Gt? I am wondering if it is at a dead stop or is their a chance I could get a peak of my favorite MRO employee driving one.

We've become nothing but empty gestures and diversity cliches. Don't forget to contribute to MEPAC :)

Just like the GT, taking care of the people us always a classic. Thirty years from now no one will remember whether Marathon shaved a nickel off the G&A this quarter - but I’ll always remember that they used to provide generators in a hurricane, tamiflu in a pandemic, etc. Those days are gone, but not forgotten. MRO once understood the reciprocity between employer and employee, but has long since lost sight of that.

I thought the dirty side was how people felt when listening to the quarterly meetings hosted by execs.

Are you guys really serious right now? Look at the economy during those times and compare to now. It’s a completely different world and our current leaders must pivot and adapt to that reality.

Probably time to show real leadership and beg Ford for another GT

Remember HES Grouo sending out doses of Tamiflu just in case during the H1N1 pandemic and stockpile of N95 masks. Really doubt much like that happening now
