You can either come into office or be a target for NSI. The offices in SG are safe, as evidenced by ZERO infections occurrence for so long.

GC is doing better than the SG government. GC wan sui!

Top SG mgmt were hard on us returning back to office earlier. How can they distrust the employees from WFH? As usual, petty and weak.

There’s always hope my friends. Hope is found outside of XOM, EMAPPL. Apply to more jobs and you will finally find something.

No increment in 2022, and possibly 2023.
Really feel for those who cant find a role outside of EM...

Attended the recent sharing to understand the future of EM. The future oil demand still relevant but market cap % for sure will be dropped. Which means future market will not be increased and how can you expect a good increase in pay check?

We need to PIP woods for sure. Need to get XOM out of the woods. Shockingly poor leadership and still get the same level of RSUs. The board must be sleeping, and the senior leadership, which includes our LCM, has gotten their noses in his a-s so deep, it’s not only brown, but black- because they are all so full of sh-t.

AWS cut doesn’t just affect management by the way. It affects all employees. In fact, senior management has a huge pay check to cushion this but not the rank and file workers my friend @ 4ggsy+16zEvLP3.

What do you expect from a company that hires so many arrogant motherfckers. There is absolutely no decency or compassion in the remaining group of people left. Always trying to up one another. Forever talking about hipo status like it means something in the real world. I'm glad most jobs are getting offshored to BKK, Bangalore, etc. Also reveling at your depressed wages and your non-existent chance for promotion. You lot need to be taken down a peg. Doing unproductive work that doesn't contribute to corp's bottom line yet having the audacity to moan and whine. I'm just waiting for the AWS cut announcement. FCK all you entitled, worthless scums.

Hey, I was told by my manager that I should be glad it’s 8% and not 10%. So senior management has already done us a favor. Be thankful for that.

8% is firm number to meet target cost saving. Whether the remaining is overloaded or not doesn’t matter.

When the Mgmt told u that we want “ Swiss knives “ workers that marks the start of a slippery path downhill doom . It implies that we need handy men around to fix small problems (anyone that had gone thru army would jolly know well how effective a Swiss kn--e- it’s a temporary tool if “there is no better alternative) . Having said , it’s not surprising , bec our current leaders most of them don’t serve Army -lol . It just implies that Mgmt is preoccupied , at this stage, to plug gaps and stop bleeding- in short survival mode, forget abt growing the business . As the adage goes , jack of all trades master of none . When u have a cancer tumor , do you seek treatment from a GP or Specialist ? Current state is liken to a country facing civil war and external war ( external competition) at the same time ..all we have is a troop of generalists trained to fix domestic issues . Who are taking care of external competition? A vicious cycle and downward spiral ... that’s what I see ... a once great company fallen from grace due to poor leadership ! Worst of all , these leaders are not made accountable . When a leader pro shareholders over stakeholders , he is a lost course .. Without stakeholders like the loyal employees to build the company u have no div to even pay to shareholders. Such a common sense logic you couldn’t comprehend . Do u deserve to be a leader ?

I got PIP’d last year and managed to pass.
Likely retaining my NSI category this year, and with last year’s PILs, this year’s layoff and resignations, the bottomless pit below is yawning wide open again.

I’d probably be PIP’d again this year - but will probably pass again?

And then what? Wait for the 2022 PA to be PIP’d for the third time, yet again? Think it’s time to move on lah.

That’s not a secret - 3 strikes in PIP and you are out.

HR has been very proud in sharing that the Corporation has been kind to give us even 2 chances.

So shout PIP PIP Hooray! We Are ExxonMobil!!!!!!

Not many in EM SG know this.
But if you are PIP’d more than twice in succession (despite passing each one), you’d be asked to go, on the third count.

Go ask HR! It’s documented somewhere.

I didn’t think Exxon really values leadership. It just rewards solid managers who can present well.

Leadership? EM management has lost the plot on how to manage things. During the good old days, everyone was seen as being good. On the downcycle, with Covid's exposure, the so-called competency of EM management has been brought to light and it is ugly. The so-called shotgun decisions are traits of worried people trying to regain composure, but they are too incompetent to realize that. Maybe a course on Peter's principle will enlighten them on how to recognize and evaluate competency. Too bad, being in the fifties, I am just thinking of rolling out the few years before resigning. Challenging the management? They can look up for it is coming, they are going to get enough brickbats from the ground as even a dog will retaliate and fight back when it is cornered, what more with the lower ground, who have put in lots of efforts in doing things correctly but being treated worse off by the so-called management team, be it the supervisors or SLS or DH and above. None have the ba--s to stand up and say things but just comply with the directions from the top.

Disappointing and disgusting id--ts. NEver take care of the people who have helped them to achieve their KPI and goals. No respect for these people

If the 8% target (or re-adjusted up/down in future years) to be PIP’ed is gonna be a yearly affair post-PA, then the future for most will be very bleak, worrisome and depressing.

Your remuneration, cash flow, family’s quality of life, long-term securities (like housing mortgage and other financial assets & savings) will never be a given ….. nor can they be planned for, with any degree of certainty!

What kind of life will you be leading, going forward? It’s no different from taking on a contact job. No?
Cos you can be asked to leave any time.

And not forgetting that the bottom NSI tier will certainly choose to leave, after repeated PIP - leaving a vacuum for the rest above to fall into, in the following year’s PA.

Many recent resignations tendered in 2021 had provided the above reasons for their vote of no confidence, to remain in EM’s employ.

Unless you are P-T 38 (and you know it because your supervisor is busy kissing your a-s), there’s only jobs for you and not a career. Polish up your resume, or else just buy some lubes and smear all over your ar-e, because you will get screwed over at some point in time. Be smart.

@4ffxq+16zEvLP3 Sounds like you have a job and not a career here. You are probably headed for the NSI route down the road. Assuming you are young, it is wise to use some free time to polish up your resume and move on.

What’s the point of complaining? I really don’t get the Singaporeans here. Vote with your feet - just apply for jobs and just leave. No point complaining - management has already told you, the door is always open. Welcome to walk out- everyone is dispensable.

No point getting personal with this.

Not surprising that LCM drives a Porsche. Execs are well compensated.

However, it’s quite sad that the Porsche is funded by departures of multiple Singaporeans. And there’s no pushback to Dallas on how PA is run, and yet there’s still another study to see if our wages can be cut further. It’s ridiculous!

Dear @4dpyh+16zEvLP3,

It’s not about what car the LCM (Local Contry Manager) drives or where she stays. It’s about the person’s conscience with respect to Righteousness, Benevolence, Wisdom and Proprietary (Confucius teachings).. if the person is brought up in the right manner, the person will do the right thing. Otherwise the person will be come to regret his/her life later.

I believe that you all want to be treated fairly and that’s all, right? If we happen to work in a Company that fails and to survive, they have to take drastic actions to cut costs, so be it. The employees should be treated fairly and they can move on to another job. There will be disruption in our lives and we have to move on.

I was one of the earlier ones to be cut off, and mind you, I have clocked 40+ years with the Company and I was very upset initially, like many of you. I kept saying to myself: “why it has to be me and not someone else?” I did not run down any of the Management staff action. I seek solace with my inner self and threw out all the hatred out of the window. I felt better now and have move on. I encourage you all to do the same too. Try not to be negative, as it will affect your work life and most importantly, your family life too. It’s not worth it. There is so much life outside EM, for the affected persons and for those who are in, hopefully you can influence the change in the Company, over time.

Take care all my ex-colleagues and live for ourselves.

Choice #1 for the win.

Big houses and nice cars don’t pay for themselves!

by

Post ID: @4dhvz+16zEvLP3

If you are GC / SG management, which would you choose
Choice 1
Continue to freeze salary/promotions for as long as possible to impress the higher ups, knowing the remaining workforce will continue to deliver and stay because those who remain either do not have the skill set outside of EM or current compensation is higher than market. Drag this on and do not rock the boat for a decade or so....then retire happily.

Choice 2
Fight for the people, ruffle some feathers at Dallas to bring back salary / promotion increments, recognising these are peoples' livelihood and for long term success of SG EM, and since I am in a position of power to do something, i am going to leave a positive legacy.

Think carefully....

It does not pay to treat your boss/management nice, there is NO reward here If everyone set the right attitude to stand on their ground, suggest their bosses to DO the work instead of pushing everything down. Mgt returning home on time, while the lower ranks suffering, is demonstrating a weak management behaviour.
