i do hope for recession and retrenchment. i do not have any debt except housing loan, no car, no kids, no liability. I hope XOM goes back to 30 usd just so to see the black face in the office. Not a rich person to begin with, but i have no issue spending less than most of the rich people in the company. Bring it on.
@bvwau+16zEvLP3. Recession and retrenchment ? Why not ? But those on pip list will be first to be thrown under the bus . If the recession is deep , then it’s retrenchment . That’s likely to be the strategy no need high paying executives to think of such. Why do u think EM merges F&L and chemical? What synergy is there except rationalisation of manpower. Other than that do u see any synergy? Next round cut will likely be CL 28 and 29 . The executives will save their as#**. Base on track record every 5 -6yrs one major shakeup or earthquake. Build your passive income streams and brace up for turbulence. Commodity cycle always goes thru bo-m and bust except the cycle is getting shorter . Good luck to us .
Oil price coming down and recession is hitting. Will there be any chance of retrenchment. What do you all think?
@btqvz+16zEvLP3, no point for you being so sensitive.
No pt attacking GC, go straight to Mr Woody… the mastermind of all PIP, NIL, NSI, MRLP, new ranking system and so on. Keep collecting millions of shares.
LousyCrappyMop... time to change one.
Msg to local Mgt:
- Core inflation is ki----g us and I believe you can feel it.
- Civil service has between 5% and 14%.
- O&G competitor is giving away one off 8% adjustment.
- US employees got inflation adjustment.
- Please bring these msg to our EMperor and look forward to hearing from you soon.
A LCM who no longer commands respect from her country men , I don’t understand what’s her point of staying . She shd have the decency to bow out and retire . Since she is super rich why hang around ? We don’t need her bec whether she stays or not doesn’t make a difference . Have the dignity and conscience to step down that’s the least you can do for your country men. Let someone who has the heart and real leadership to reconstruct and lead the company .
GC doesn’t care about your salty comments. She’s leading a comfortable life in her GCB while having work life balance, whereas you are slogging your a-s off not to get NSI. So continue to post here, loser!
LCM is just an ugly to the point that it is funny clown. It is a position houston create to have a buffer between sg and houston. Anything happens in sg, finger will points at lcm. Not houston. Paid to take heat and nothing else.
LCM remote working while we cannot WFH because we are in manufacturing. Inflation doesn't affect her since she could be in thailand or indonesia.
You just keep doing your morning meetings, afternoon meetings and stewardship with your SLS.
Bcos EMperor say NO!
how come singapore no inflation adjustment? even civil service has between 5% and 14%. what's the lcm doing??
Kodak, Nokia, blackberry, next EM…?
Lack of innovation la…
*At that time Nokia suffered from organisational fear;
*The organisational fear was grounded in a culture of temperamental leaders and frightened middle managers;
*The middle management was scared of telling the truth because they feared being fired;
*Top managers were afraid of the external environment and not meeting their quarterly targets;
*Executives were afraid to publicly acknowledge the inferiority of Symbian, Nokia’s operating system;
*They knew it would take several years to develop a better operating system that could compete with Apple’s iOS;
*Top executives were afraid of losing investors, suppliers and customers if they acknowledged their technological inferiority to Apple;
*Top managers intimidated middle managers by accusing them of not being ambitious enough to meet their goals;
*Top management was lied to by middle management who felt telling the truth was useless;
*Top managers lacked technical competence which influenced how they could assess technological limitations during goal setting; by comparison, the top engineers at Apple were all engineers;
*Instead of allocating resources to the achievement of long-term goals such as developing a new operating system, Nokia management decided to develop new phone devices for short-term market demands.
MBA Case Study - When explaining Nokia’s fall many observers found three reasons:
- Nokia’s technology was inferior to Apple’s;
- The arrogance among top-level managers;
- Lack of vision.
The "emperor" has no clothes. No one is telling the truth.
Alama, if u do not like your manager, try to transfer to other depart, if not get away from this company,, if you depend on your from salary only, otherwise you can stick to this company,,, most of the managers will be there for 2-3 years only then they move.... You need to tolerate only 2-3 years... Hold on your frus n vent it away. Better get away
Managers morning do ocvm afternoon do ocvm evening do ocvm
Then write report technician dunno anything
KNN got nothing else better things to do is it
@b8hsh+16zEvLP3
Liesss la. Managers are the worst pu----s ever. Only know how to fake smile and sell lies. Knn only id--ts fall for your sh-t
@b8hsh+16zEvLP3
Great! It’s always good to show who’s in control - not only during meetings, but deep into their PA outcomes, career advancement, promotions and increments.
You’d need to inspire them and lead, yet make it clear that you have them all under your full control. Literally, their future in the company, all in the grasp of your hand.
So the only way out for them, if they will not (or do not want to) yield, is to leave EM.
I think that’s the best way to part ways amicably, if mindsets, plans and ambitions do not match/align - without besetting any acrimony.
As a manager, during meetings, I will always shut the “empty vessels that make the most noise” early in their game ….. unless they have a brilliant idea, or a strong point to counter.
Some of the reactions I’ve got range from raised voices, negative remarks and the likes. But shut them off, I still will.
Better still in a Zoom meeting, as a facilitator, I could force-mute them if they go out of bounds! Especially those that go on and on, berating on the same thing ….. and going off topic.
Some always butted in when the seniors discussed the project and was akin to an empty vessel making the most noise just to score points. Over here you don’t need to know how to do and who you know is more important!
@b6myr+16zEvLP3 Well said! Working hard for the company will get you to the eventual dumpster. With the honour of being labelled as a terrible performer and an unwanted worker in EM. Imagine the shame you carry with yourself, how will you feel looking at your love ones carrying the tag of NSI. Yucks I would say!
Do more ECAs, these are the one that will you get more points in ranking, some things are intangible however essential.
It is even clearer now that the company has changed its approach towards employees . It’s a transactional relationship no longer a partnership. So think for yourself from now on, when there is better opportunity or prospect , just leave …no emotional attachment . The company thinks everyone is dispensable ( except the Execs ) . So let them sail the ship…. Sometimes , talk and talk is useless . Action is the most realistic ….. we shall see how the dragon boat can sail without the rowers but only the drummer . It will be an interesting experiment to conduct .lol
To the Senior Technician that wrote this:
“Honestly, supervisors don’t deserved (sic) to make $10k a month while contact engineers are quitting to greener pasture. Everyone should just take a senior technician package regardless of year of services (sic). Same job, same pay.”
I think that you are really off your bonkers.
Smells strongly of CCCP leh! Or do the symbolise themselves as simply “Z” nowsaday? :D
Do you think any company, not just EM, can attract a Section Head / Second-Line Supervisor position with a mere $8K or less salary? Wake up soldier!!
Relax. Just relax and have fun doing what you're doing. Don't worry so much about being results-oriented.
Chill out, relax and have an open mind.
chill guys, if you are a refinery technician and not happy, just quit lo. Shell and other plants are taking in so many technicians who are trained. Check with your peers who left, compare the $, work load and culture.
No need to whack each other anonymously. Reason why we are all here is because of tmts, pip, layoff etc.
@aYlrl+16zEvLP3
You’re a typical complain king who grumbles and reports others’ faults. In army, you’re just a recruit level but you talk like you can replace sergeant or officer, or thinking you can be better than a general. Do you know why company hires you as a technician and not as a department head?
What is RS?
This RS kept posting on LinkedIn, really annoying. The term family makes me sick, when times were bad, EM turned its back on us. Next wave of NSI nasties will learn to appreciate this so called “family” treatment.
@aYlrl+16zEvLP3
What about the DHs earning >$20K/mth (SME directors’ pay level) and amassing multi-million dollars by the time they retire ….. owning landed properties, status symbol cars, putting children in prestigious overseas universities, and living a luxury lifestyle?
They do even less work than the SLSs, IMHO!
Can any technician afford that kind of wealthy lifestyle? No I think not - unless they have a side income own business, or strike 4D / TOTO.
So what differentiates one from the other?
A University degree ….. of at least a Second Upper, if not First Class Honours.
That makes the difference!
You ought to have studied harder when in school, but I guess, it’s too late for you to play catch up hor :(
By early-Sep, or sooner.
When will they communicate the ranking results?
@aYlrl+16zEvLP3
Might as well say DW also no need. Coz he takes instructions from board of directors. Everybody is being used or using someone in some ways. Welcome to reality.
I do not see them leading but rather behave like a messenger. It is always the Technical provide the data and decision are made by PMTE lead. I am curious what is the role of supervisor apart from conveying messages. This role hold no responsible as well. It is always the technician are fault because they do all the work. A person who make no mistake is someone who never do the work.
Their coordination skills is literally using Person A answer to provide guidance to Person B. Then using Person C questions to test on Person A…. Gosh! Any experience technician can do this. I guess we just have to rotate this role and make all take the same salary package. Honestly, supervisors don’t deserved to make $10k a month while contact engineers are quitting to greener pasture. Everyone should just take a senior technician package regardless of year of services. Same job, same pay.
They have made enough and some even managed to retired as millionaire. Please spare a thoughts for young engineers and technicians who are competent but being used
