Flooding the shale

This must be the new hoax. Shale Ponzi scheme 2.0. No you can NOT flood the shale. A CO2 molecule is 0.33nm. It is bigger than the 2nm nanodarcy pore diameter predominantly. Maybe if VH keeps repeating it it will become truth (for her). No CO2 cost can’t be free or almost free. This government is busy tackling the pandemic and has no sign any more favorable regulation besides Q45 (no impact so far). You still have to ship it, compress it, transport it somehow. There is not enough atmospheric CO2 to grab it from the air in sufficient quantities. Stop misleading investors. Stop the lying.

2nm is 6 times 0.33 nm. You must have meant you're an aggy engineer, not an average engineer.

This is the problem with newer engineers who've only worked unconventional assets. They have no clue about anything else besides slapping together an average line and calling it a type curve.

Dig through the Anadarko archives on Salt Creek. That was a CO2 flood with a water wall injection curtain to hold in the migration. Lots of plumbing and compression may be some useful info there.

Flooding the "reservoir" is the question. Yes, a huff-n-puff process works. Beyond that, good luck.
If Oxy is serious enough, should disclose results in a SPE paper or earnings call.

Oxy is injecting CO2 into an already fraced and produced well to increase reservoir pressure above bubble point which will yield more oil. It’s completely doable and has been done before successfully. Economics will be the big hurdle as they have to shut-in and not produce for a period of time and then the fall off in pressure may be too steep to overcome the shut-in periods. It’ll be interesting to see what they come up with.

Does a molecule of hydrocarbon fit? Then a molecule of CO2 fits. You work in an oil co, and by now should know the difference between porosity and permeability. She did not say that the CO2 flooding was going to take place in a “conventional” way, either. Yes, there is a cost for CO2 (one way or another), and there is also a cost at which projects like this will be profitable. The negativity in this board makes me sick. Your time is better spent finding ways to help the company grow. If it goes down, realize that’ll be part your fault.
