I can’t believe there are supervisors and chargehands away to take other machinists jobs and in the process getting pay cuts, stripped of titles, and turning down tens of thousands in redundancy money! how sad are they...there is life outside that miserable factory 😂

Bumping must be considered by law and if not then their is a case for unfair dismissal.
Do some research and look at what is happening at other companies in the UK before you state “standard practices” of UK employment law."
Bless, you are obviously not the most intelligent of creatures and rely on the internet for your legal knowledge. You are completely correct in the respect that legally bumping has to be considered. If you had done more research you would have also discovered that mostly, bumping is not a viable option and this is even before the employer considers the legal risks assigned with the practice. The bottom line is DQ will do whatever they want regardless of the comeback on them. If you know your history you will know that DQ has a very poor record when it comes to making legal decisions.
The problem you have is that Harvey Specter is sitting in Huston thinking he is in an episode of suits pretending he is versed in UK employment law making and bungling things as DQ always do.
Take furlough for example. There are still employee's still on furlough which the government said last month that employers can't make these people redundant while on furlough or if they do the company will be required to pay back all the money to the government that they paid for the employees wages etc. This was to stop employers abusing the system. So either Harvey Specter doesn't have a clue about this or on the other hand, they maybe don't care.
I would ask you Spymon to do better research next time before letting your biscuit box rattle.

Yes bumping is legit but it is usually not a standard practice in the the UK because it carries too many legal risks for unfair dismissal claims. It is a practice widely used in the US because they can pretty much treat employees like c-ap and get away with it. Anyone on a machine that gets displaced by a current supervisor will have a genuine case for unfair dismissal as the supervisors will be getting double bumped (unheard of) in to a machinists position that is at risk. The law states bumping can only occur if the person that is being bumped is going to a position that is currently not at risk. Further more they have not had recent appraisals involving their competency on a m/c so there is no way to say that they are any better than current machinists that occupy those positions.
Why are we still seeing these posts?
Everyone had the change to take VR if they believed that DQ was such a terrible place to work.
Your opinion has been noted, now get on with your own lives and leave those of us still at DQ to get on with ours.
The people being bumped are being kept just to insure the horrible treatment of people and the dismal moral of the place is kept as it is, not surprised all the decent guys are already long gone they left the desperate and weak to sc-ap for nothing. If u weren’t brainwashed and u knew what it was like in there and what it was going to b like till it closes I doubt even the most desperate and brainwashed would apply to work their. Yet some are turning down big amounts of cash to do so haha haha
No one is stealing jobs, bumping is legit for ditching the clowns and replacing with efficient operators.
Are you honestly surprised? I can honestly say without hesitation that DQ is the most despicable company I have ever worked for. I have been doing this for 25 years and DQ has always had a terrible reputation. Unfortunately the only people that don't understand that there is a problem there is the people that have been there there whole working life. Once these parasites get bumped and can't afford to live with there enormous wage cut they will try and leave if anyone is willing to have them. DQ will then be left with the problem of filling those positions and no one will go near that place with a barge pole.
This is when it starts to get personal stealing someones job just take your money and go your job no long avaliable there will be a lot anger people will have nothing to lose anyway never know what could happen keep looking round your shoulder boys.
