Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

August 8, 2020

The sun is setting. It’s eerily quiet. Nothing has transpired yet but the tension is tangible.
Lambs waiting for the slaughter. How will it happen? We continue to work quietly and cautiously. Perhaps they’ve been so preoccupied it will go unnoticed. If IT wasn’t so f***ed up maybe we would be able to blend in making it impossible to tell the difference between LAPC and LOXY. Camouflaged with email addresses and app access to all the things the LOXY have.
But it is not so. So we quietly labor on, cloaked in work-around log ins and “wholly owned subsidiary” labels.
May the odds be ever in your favour LAPC.

I call BS on your positive advice I did leave the sinking ship! And now I’m damn happy. The Managent at OXY just flat out lie when the truth would help the cause, especially when management has have zero experience in my field of experience OXY has management making decisions that have zero experience, the miss management is laughable shameful embarrassing and costing millions of dollars for their OJT.... Open your eyes...,OXY is in dire straights oh btw nobody going to be replaced because NO one in the industry would work at OXY.....get over yourself legacy OXY you were never that good that’s why mama VH bet the company to BUY a real E&P Anadarko like it are not people begged to work at APC for a reason excellence...

Cue the sad music. Dead man walking. Oxy is dying. Earnings will be another reminder how devastating apc deal was, and still is. As other Big Oil start rebranding towards green energy, unload assets, oxy went all in on fossil at the peak. I am waiting for oxy to reduce pay again and this time incude benefits. Then you will really know the titanic is taking on water.

I guess we can assume that OXY management does not feel this date (merger) means very much. Usually you would see some kind note from management commemorating such an important date in company history. OXY management...
radio silent.

Dont blame IT. Its not an IT problem.
It all comes down to leadership.

HR is really trying hard to bring back Oxy culture. Should’ve been working at it prior to the oil prices falling. And please stop blaming external issues for why Oxy’s stock value has deteriorated from $60 to $15. A lot of that was the Anadarko acquisition. But Oxy has always been good at being blindingly positive even when there was nothing to be positive about. Guess that’s all that there is left.

First time on the site. No bet has been lost yet. Predictions are worth nothing. This site's only purpose is to be an outlet for griping and complaining. Deep down you know its true. They should really change the name since as far as I can tell it has little to do with layoffs.

There was no tragedy of events beyond OXYs control. VH bet the company and lost the bet. That will be her legacy and the legacy of OXY.

Oxy should survive and good things will happen for those employees remaining. As for the stockholders they will have a long recovery period. Such a tragedy of events beyond Oxy’s control.

Just leave it you can’t find any positives. There are a lot of companies that make mistakes. If your attitude is not going to change please go so we can replace you with someone who might give it a chance. There are many people out there that would take your place.

Oxy has made soooo many mistakes, it’ll take more then “We Are in this together” to get Oxy back on track. Prediction is Oxy will be dissolved in two years.

Look at it this way. Now you can forget about all the distractions of year one and the COC. We all are on the same team and need to move the company forward. A few asset sales will help us get going in the right direction. You guys still have some protection for two more years and that is a lot more than most people in this work environment. Time for us all to stop complaining and move forward.

Oh, don’t worry. You will be in our systems with no need for workarounds very soon. We’re glad you’re here.
