Are Operations and Maintenance safe?

Just curious what everyone thinks about how this will affect operations and maintenance personnel at US plants. So far it seems that only salary employees have been let go. Could things get to a point where wage employees are also let go?

The Permian/Delaware basins a re a drag on XOM, they have yet to make one dime, in fact last year they lost over two billion dollars and that’s a fact.

At BTECW, PTL department used to be hourly workers, were allowed OT when necessary. PTL was considered Operations. In January 2020 they made everyone at PTL salary employees. Said that it would be easier to promote people out and made a whole show of how great being salary will be. They eliminated OT pay but employees were expected to stay as long as necessary to complete work, no extra pay for extra hours. Now they've cut a number of excellent people, handed out PIPs and forced retirements. Feels like this has been planned for a long time. Very manipulative moves, lying, false hopes, all to have you out the door labeled unworthy. Sick way to handle things. Loyal employees have gotten no loyalty back from a company that pretends to care so much. Somewhere along the way the culture of caring for employees has changed. This started before the oil glut and pandemic. Now they're just ramping things up.

If you’re at a site you are at risk of being sold off along with the site if EM divests the asset. Happened with Torrance refinery and the North Sea assets. Come into work one day and find out you now work for PBF or some sh–ty independent.

Ops more safe....but if they are cutting PM and maint budgets not sure why maint staff would also be safe.

Those in ops with fluff jobs not safe. If you are directly qualified on a unit or board or directly involved in the day to day shut storm more safe.
