Was recently contacted about a position with GE Aviation, and scheduled for an interview. How is it that during the COVID crisis, with all of the layoffs and reductions in force within similar industries, GE Aviation has openings? The position is in Ohio. Can anyone elaborate on what the situation looks like for Ohio facilities? Thanks

Most of those are in Vandalia.. what do they pay 12hr... that place is ALWAYS hiring.
There are 58 jobs listed in the Career Opportunity System in GE Aviation across the USA.
I dunno how that's possible...in West Jefferson NC we just have found out that another 15% of hourly staff are getting layed off. This is on top of 2 other previous layoffs we have already had this year, the 1st was 10%, and 2nd was 15%. So with this 3rd one, we've lost 40% of our shop due to the 737 max issues, and COVID, all within 8 months.
Are you nuts?? You want to work in that dirt a– town?
Here is some advice in Evendale. I would stay away. They let go some of the best people in the lab areas. Now they have no skilled people to program and run the machines and are in a pinch for their customers.
Ask yourself what will happen to you once the program they are hiring you for is over. Unfortunately, it’s a disaster with the union and management. You cannot believe either.
I see 51 positions available in GE Aviation in the USA on the Career Opportunity System. Ten hourly and the rest mostly Lead or Senior Professional Band. You could be replacing a vital role from someone who took early retirement or transferred.
