Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Yesterday's 8-K

Oxy board voted to partially restore executive salaries and slipped it in an 8-K released after market close Friday night. Seems kind of slippery, like maybe they didnt want anyone to notice. Thinking that they are getting ready to cut LAPC salaries in order to fund the EC salaries.

The funniest part is you people don't even know what is to come. Talking about your salaries and who you can persecute coz you think you are entitled to do it etc. I'm going to love seeing the looks on your faces when its time. I've noticed the same looks on the news again and again when you people have your victims pay you back.

Contractors are hired to be the company’s minions. Be happy u still have a job that pays you a living wage. 70% of something is better that 100% of nothing.

I work with some excellent contractors and wish I could write the checks, but I am way down the ladder from check writing. The group I work with are second to none in what they bring to the table, and really a huge improvement over what we have for the same jobs at Oxy. I know I appreciate the contractors I work with, and in many ways don't see them as contractors, but as part of the Oxy family.

As contractors you are not employees and are not bound by the company salary structure. You can certainty try to negotiate anything you want. Most likely you are going through a third party shop in which case you would have to take it up with them. They are likely told what companies will pay for your services which are not at the rate they used to be at.

Nice to hear more people speaking up for contractors who also were hit with a 30% pay reduction. Yet most contractors salary have not been reinstated and likely wont happen in the near future.

There are some great contractors working for Anadarko and now Oxy that have been on a 30% pay reduction for the past three months. They have no idea when or if they will ever have a salary reinstatement. Yes they have a job and they are thankful but it was such an immediate happening there was not time to plan for that.

We got ours back so be happy with that, and if we have the money to pay theirs, so be it. I doubt Anadarko will get theirs cut, so until it happens don't start speculating. We all had to pitch in to make the second qtr work, and it s—ed for sure, but it was across the board. I am glad to have a job, and not be laid off going through severance and savings to provide insurance and other essentials for my family. I have friends that worked at Anadarko and left in November that have huge insurance premiums to pay now that the six months is up. They can't even get an interview for a job like they had before. We are getting full pay and working from home. What else could you asked for.
