Thread regarding L Brands layoffs

Negotiating Severance package?

Has anyone had success negotiating an L Brands severance package - e.g. increasing the number of weeks paid or maybe a retention bonus for a later separation date?

HR didn’t want to negotiate severance packages but they were handing out bonuses like candy this Fall to the employees they kept after the layoffs.

Lump sum severance or paid over time?

Typically the district manager has a form stating that it’s nonnegotiable, which they don’t specify. L Brands doesn’t inform their employees about severance pay, and it’s definitely a different payout for each person which may not always be fair. I suggest getting an attorney.

My attorney will have it in his hands on Monday. There’s always room to negotiate. The fact they said take it to a lawyer proves it. If you’re over 40 you have 45 days to sign and even after you do you have another 7 days to revoke it. Get your worth!

There's definitely room for negotiation. I've been hearing a variety of packages, between 5 months - 1 year max.

Anytime an employer tells you it would take a lawyer and it wouldn’t be worth it, that means it’s 100% worth it.

HR suggested to open a case with an attorney - but was doubtful
