Thread regarding Marathon Oil Corp. layoffs

Censorship

I really question The Layoff’s commitment to providing useful information to MRO employees because it seems they are all too willing to remove any post that MRO HR/management asks them to remove. Why remove a post questioning whether employees’ lives/health should be sacrificed for a completely pointless company objective? Who would willingly trade their life/health to ensure full utilization of leased premises when the company itself acknowledges the work can be done remotely as well?

And volunteering for Phase I for face time with your RVP? How long will he remember your face once you’re dead? Unless you are a buddy he dragged along from Noble, he’ll drop you like a hot potato once your test comes back positive.

Look at the numbers. The death rates are very likely less than 1%. It's not that dangerous. People see big numbers and forget that they live in a country of over 330 million people.

Per the WSJ, 87% of companies monitor computer usage. Whenever on this site, use your iPad or PC and, if in the office, use your own hot spot. Just a suggestion...

Make your post kosher and your post won’t get nuked. I’ve been on this site since 2018 and can tell you this - the site is moderated, mods nuke post that contain:

  • names, identifiers (c-suits are ok to post)
  • foul language & personal insults
  • politics & race & religion

They have few more rules (see the links in the footer), but it basically comes to above mentioned. Anyone (including MRO) can ask for something to be pulled from here, but it gets pulled only if it’s illegal or violates the rules.

John Kerry, in the context of the Vietnam war, once asked “who will ask the last man to die for a mistake?”

I spoke up about all this and was let go 4/30. I was always a high performer and ranked 1s and 2s. Goes to show the rankings are BS. That place is run like North Korea. Glad I am out of there.

Unfortunately, marathon leadership is showing they are petty and willing to stamp out those who disagree. These opinions are real. What we’re being told by our supervisors is real. Concerns about coming back, because of Covid or no in person meetings or child-care or whatever, are also real.

People also enjoy not having a commute and have found they can do their jobs remotely. The company has found that their school yard bullying tactics are now much less effective.
