Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Schools

Not quite a lay-off question. But anyone here about plans from Boeing regarding schools going 100% online. And if parents don’t have childcare/have to stay home and do online learning 5 days a week with their kids. Kinda hard to get to work if that’s the case. Even vacation, sick leave and FMLA ain’t gonna cover the whole school year!!

Yes, good luck to all! If we could just get universal income and free health care, we could all stay home and focus properly on caring for and raising our children. It just makes sense, we can print the money. And, with the quality upbringing we would all be able to provide, I’m certain our well educated children will grow into benevolent adults who in turn do the same for theirs and others less fortunate around the world. It does take a village, people, so whether our kids grow up to be construction workers, soldiers, bikers, police officers or Indian Chiefs, let’s all do the right thing and vote socialists into power whenever possible. The world is shrinking, we need more social people. It’s good to be social. Being social helps with relations. Who doesn’t like good relations? Together, we can do it. And, if not you and me, maybe me and your neighbor. Or maybe you, me and your neighbor. It could turn into a movement. Everyone doing it together everywhere every day. Oh what a beautiful world! I know we can make it happen. Change starts now! Vote socialists into power. We can’t wait any longer. Tomorrow is but a day away, but it will be here before you know it.

So sad that we are back to the 19th century with the concept of "your kids or your job, but you can't choose not both". I am lucky that my kids are older when this pandemic happened. They take care of themselves when theirs schools went 100% online (allowing me to focus on just providing a const flow of revenue). But man, what if they were in Middle School or younger...(i don't even want to think about, it hurts my brain)...good luck to all.

I took a personal LOA from mid-March to my return to work date- late June, after school finished for the year. You can apply for unemployment, but I hope you have savings, because my unemployment benefits got stolen from me, and I still haven't recovered them. That said, I also changed shifts to be home during the days this year 2020/2021. So, unemployment is an option, but you may feel the burn from the system, and you should not expect school to be normal this year. Good luck. P.S. If your LOA runs longer than 90 days, you lose union progression time and benefits.

Yes. There is a program. You’ll get paid 1/2 your typical monthly income and be able to stay home with your kids. You can find the details at: www://pullyourfnheadout.com
