Thread regarding Dean Foods Co. layoffs

Franklin plant

Who thinks Franklin is about to close? Running soft. Dairy is running just 4 days meaning we get only 32 hours. The tyrant supervisor in the chest and case room is pushing everyone to the limits and wonders why noone will work for him. He steps on the seniors it has to be his way. The managers wont do anything about him. The whole team should go to HR about his dictative unprofessional mangement skills. These suits need to go. Noone is doing anything. Total chaos. Is this all because we have no real leadership? Something has to give. There is a senior that busts his butt daily and knows all the ins and outs of this place but the supervisor tyrant keeps burying the place. Too many hands in the cookie jar. What to do?

With the pension being stolen from us the union really isn’t gonna help like they use to

It reads like you are struggling and worrying about too many things.is there union? If not just be dure to cover yourself. As for the hours, I think all places are a bit slow. Schools may be back in session soon, possibly. Youll never know if the supervisor is being spoken too for behavior or if he is being told to lean on the crew. Especially, if they are tenured employees. Bring the cheaper temps in. Relax. Much more to worry about than a tough supervisor. Worry about creating great product to get the hours back.

No union at Franklin? If no, organize. If yes, your union s—s- vote for new union leadership.
Never was a union supporter before working for Dean Foods and still don't like a number of things the union does, but the alternative due to mentality of management at Dean Foods/now DFA is the sh– being reported here. Union isn't some magic entity that will get you everything that you want (and they'll promise things that can't deliver) but union can force company to follow their own policies and work rules and what's in the union contract and force company to negotiate any changes.

I used to be a supervisor for a Deans plant I can not disclose. Three things....

  1. Tactics stated above is 100% accurate and pushed onto plant managers. Which were then relayed to supervisors to enforce and act out on. Denial of vacations, favoritism, job bidding denials or bad reviews of employees to HR on a potential job bid. In order to keep them in our departments if they were good employees.
  1. Any employee I did not like or was a cancer to my crew. I would purposely go to the laundry/uniform racks and plant compromising material in uniforms. I would then inform HR of suspicious activity. They would them demand a test. If employee rejected said test. HR would immediately terminate. No questions asked.
  1. Plant manager at my facility had a hit list. We as supervisors were instructed to target individuals on hit list and treat them like dirt. Break them down to quit. If we failed. Then plant manager would reprimand us for failure of orders. Plant manager would then speak to HR to find ways to terminate said employees.

Classic tactics

They are breaking down the vets to clean house and bring in cheaper fresh meat. A lot of prices do this. Even denying vets vacation times will break down their morale into submission.

Every plant will be and has been adapting this measure to see who will quit!!!

My opinion. It will be a while before things pick up. No i do not think Franklin will close. Its not like NY can handle the output soft or not. Managers could be performance managing people but you might not know. I think everyone is looking out for themselves and imo, that is causing more harm than good
