GE 273 division will be bringing pain in the form of hard gifts come Christmas Time for union employees. 225 layoffs for 301

Expect GE to be very generous with their presents this season

I'd make more $ on unemployment. Can't wait till 273 is closed for good in the meantime it's a free paycheck.

Every couple of months somebody gets on here acting like they know everything and tells all of us that "X" number of people will be laid off at Schenectady in a month of two. Add all those numbers up and there should only be like 3 people walking around right now. Nobody is going anywhere unless they are retiring or found a better job.

@bhr+16aMj5H2 more like only 10 came over from grc. Because they cried they weren't gonna get 1st shift and didn't want off shifts but regardless they are still 301 employees and 225 of us will be out the door by the end of the year especially with those big bonus check coming in january, and a cola raise

Quote, "If these predictions and numbers were always right, GE would have to transfer people from other locations just so they could lay them off at Schenectady. 273 would be at a negative employment value right now!!"

You clearly dont know how many 301 bodies work for GE in Schenectady. These layoffs that are absolutely coming, will effect more than building #273. Now that the company has actually told the union that the steam work is officially going away, they will have a few hundred extra workers to deal with. Generator alone can not absorb the extra workers from the Steam side of things. The orders in Building #66 are up for the next 2 years, but not enough to absorb more than 50 people max! So yes there will be a cple hundred out on the street, and there will still be a few hundred in #273, and maybe close to a hundred in #66, along with the few at R&D, that will make up our 4-500 local 301 GE workers!!!

I’m not the only one being an optimist on this sight. Just waiting for the big papa show to start again this time I will not return.

@clx+16aMj5H2 GRC just “transferred” 75 people to Schenectady, so there is that...
