Who is safe and who is not?

Offices described in the announcement are the targets - no matter what anniversary you are in these offices.
I do not think there are folks who should think they are safe
With this 15k people about to lose their jobs, I do not think direct managers or supervisors having any inputs. Decision will be made by a bunch of lawyers and HR.
As someone mentioned, high salary older people are at risk. Those can retire and they want those people out because of their high salary and age. If course there are laws involved so they will have to let go of a younger person with the s as me title to avoid this.
That is unfortunately a difficult question to nail down. Usually, it based on..
1) The direction in what technologies the company wants to invest in for future business?
2) What redundancies are there in the merger?
3) What does the customer need?
Usually these "road maps" are considered Proprietary, or Trade Secrets so that stuff is not easy to find. But, that is top level. At the individual there is also past performance, what money do you bring into the company, do you have specialized (hard to find) skill sets, and how much do you make in salary relative to your output? However, because of current society influences, how popular you are can be just as much of an influence on your evaluations over everything else.
Now for an application. Raytech seems to be very interested in Missile Defense, and the applicaitons for hypersonic technology (if you believe all of the web articles). If you can extrapolate
how your business unit can directly contribute, you might be ok.
If we are all on this together when will the Rsytheon side get affected? I know they are getting all the business and that is what is probably keeping RTX afloat but surely they have some jobs that can be eliminated. The should soften the blow a little.
It’s also about location. I doubt that all sites have the same targets.
The older employees that can retire should be offered incentive to leave. I know this one guy who is 70 (retired from military, retired from another job) and still working. Dont know his financial situation but at that age should stop working aleeady. Maybe they should offer voluntary layoffs too to see who takes it. That's another way to reduce workforce.
So essentially the old employees with non updated skill sets are out? Those that refuse to learn new skills and adapt are gone too probably, very typical.
Generally for salaried it is a combination of skill set (how well an individual's skill sets are aligned with future business need) and performance. I can't speak to hourly.

It’s a company wide lay-off. Nobody is safe. This question didn’t need to be made into a thread. There are multiple other threads that give info in regards to the layoffs. Most information is posted on here as soon as someone finds something out. Asking a generic question won’t get you anywhere. If we knew who, what and when then there would be a post on here stating that information
