Thread regarding Allscripts layoffs

This is truly ridiculous

Does nobody in management care that we keep losing clients left and right? Instead of improving client experience to increase retention and with that improve the results, they keep cutting best employees and outsourcing their work - and achieving the opposite in the process. How does that make any sense?

Management isn't in this for the long haul any more. They're not concerned with keeping clients long term or hiring top talent. It's about the optics at this point, regardless of how many clients they're losing, PB and LK's affair, or Employees being disgruntled. It's all about dumping this business before it's a complete loss.

@1for+16ZlunAx you can't even spell 2bPrecise correctly, give me a break on your opinion. Go back to your hole.

I'm surprised the board has tolerated PB this long.
The stock hasn't progressed since the previous CEO left. You can blame the former leadership for a year, but it's reasonable to expect an improvement the company's performance. We haven't seen that.

The strategy now is to sell of as much of the business as possible (EPSI, CarePort, 2BePrecise, Veradigm), and then strip out enough cost to try and entice a VC to take the company private.

Once private, the strategy is to invest in a Sunrise re-write. Sunrise today is a 2-tier client server architecture. The technical debt that the product has accumulated is almost insurmountable.

The future is not bright.

@1ihl+16ZlunAx: Which of the current AS products would qualify as 'cash cow'. Unless maybe that description is being used to describe the millions and millions being generated by Paul and Lisa... :-D

How much market is available if the software is largely undocumented, particularly from an installation perspective, and the particular business interdependencies are relatively unknown to remaining staff?

TBH, I would love for someone to create a youtube video documenting a group of new 'experts' trying to figure that sh– out. LOL

A common corporate strategy is to sell off cash cow products (to the shock of their employees) so perhaps AS is planning on doing just that. They then take the cash and invest in something else.

Yes, the CEO has to please the board of directors (and stockholders). Normally, customer satisfaction should be a priority if the goal is to retain customers using the software and generate profits from the customers using the software. However, they may not care about customer satisfaction if the plan is to sell off either pieces of the company or the company as a whole. Not sure if this is the case but it might explain why customer service is no longer a priority.

I don't think that it's unreasonable to please stockholders by ensuring that profits continue to occur. The best way to do that is to ensure that focus remains on active customers. It's these customers who spread the word to other potential customers, which then improves the possibility of improved profits.

Why id–ts like Paul and Lisa don't understand this is really shocking. It's also shocking that stockholders seem to be deluding themselves (likely as a result of BS from PB and LK) that any of these products will be of interest for potential acquisition by anyone other than da-MN fools.

To the original poster, where have you been and how long have you worked in the corporate world for publicly traded companies? Upper management are out to please stockholders, no one else no matter what else they say about customer service or employees. 2

Customer service is a after thought which seems to be a trend across most companies now a days. Which makes it really difficult to wrap your head around the thought process that goes on with upper management.
