Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Are things at Oxy really as bad as these posts imply? If so then you have a major problem that needs fixing soon.

Post ID: @bah+16ZgVh9y Hit the nail in the head. Happy to have left that hot mess of a company. They have some great leaders there, but they’re eclipsed by the many sh–ty ones.

Also, one of the worst CEOs in the history of corporate America, who made one of the largest bone-headed decisions in history, which was largely panned and ridiculed at the time, even before the 2020 downturn and pandemic. Her approval rating on Glassdoor is currently 47% and falling, and it's only that high because of the mid and upper management brown nosers.

I agree. Upper management really needs to take a look at management (Both VPs, Directors) in the Land group and clean house. SO many examples of nepotism and bullying in that group that I can think of.

It is really bad for some people who can’t leave because there are no jobs out there. Most of us LOXY could have left under any of the VSP offers, so we really can’t complain in these times. The LAPC that want to go but can’t don’t bring much to the table because of their hate for Oxy. Some could have left for less, but did not take the offers. I wish we had more money to offer more VSP packages, but at this point it is probably us LOXY that will be cut with the minimum.

Our salaries were cut 30% for 3 months. Not to mention we didn’t even get inflationary raises this year. What do you think? I can’t stand the direction of this company. I plan to leave as soon as the market allows.

Yes they are.

  1. No faith or belief in leadership.
  2. Greatly divided workforce from a poorly managed merger integration.
  3. Disgruntled shareholders, I mean bagholders
  4. Uncle Buffet and Uncle Ichan
  5. Lack of communication about direction of the company even before covid
  6. Overwhelming debt guiding ever decision towards the cost cutting measure.
  7. Interdependent groups making counterproductive decisions that require other groups to either duplicate or re-work things because of said decison because of no communications between leaders.
  8. Nepotism is rampant in some departments.
  9. Layers and layers of middle management yes men that don't add value.
  10. Failed asset sales that then become "core"
  11. Legacy systems being band-aided up vs replaced and then being blamed when they fail.
  12. Lame duck employees who were not released due to the high cost of CoC.
  13. VSP qualified individuals that were revoked and now are being punished.
  14. Little to no bonuses expected
  15. Large groups of employees have openly stated they don't think the company will survive.
  16. Talent isn't sticking around.

Etc....
