Thread regarding Accenture layoffs

No more layoffs before next year?

Am I too naive to believe my manager when he says there'll be no more layoffs this year?

Management has absolutely no control over layoffs. They are puppets to what Julie and Ellyn decide about Accenture people. It was the same with the forced ranking “5% + 5%” to push people out. Quite a few folks lost their jobs at every level at the discretion of their Talent Lead. It’s a very flawed and rigged system. Make no mistake, if Leadership cascades the message down that we are to have another “Announcement Day” then any given Manager, etc. will be setting up a call with you (and HR) and deliver the news that your “services are no longer needed”. I am not sure who wrote that script, but I have to say that it’s terrible. There is a more compassionate and empathetic way to deliver that news to people who have work their a– off at Accenture. Layoffs may be necessary at times for any company, but Accenture’s “truly human” was a complete and utter failure in having management deliver those messages. And any mid-manager would throw you under the bus or stick your head on the chopping block if it means they get to keep their own jobs. Accenture Leaders are ruthless.

It doesn't stop. Yet. They make the layoffs as if it's just part of a normal process. But the numbers speak for themselves! Bloody hell (excuse moi) but part of performance achievement they want yah all to do is take more roles. It's one way to tell yah to take part of the lost role of the layoffs.

There is a HUGE difference between "There won't be anymore layoffs" and "I don't know of any more layoffs".

Look at the news. Covid is spiking 10x all over Europe. The market is in the middle of its second 50% dip since the pandemic started. Businesses will continue to falter and go bankrupt. Layoffs will continue well into 2021. A year from now we may be even in worse shape than now. Don't assume everything will just get better. It could get far worse.

Don’t worry all the folks that made the cuts will be sure to get even bigger bonuses this year. Millionaires and greed is leadership at Accenture
