Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

You can't prepare for something like this

Many of us at Dell knew layoffs were coming sooner or later. I made it a point to keep my resume and LinkedIn profile up to date and to scan websites like Indeed, Glassdoor, etc. in anticipation of layoffs. And yet it still felt like a ‘wham bam, thank you ma’am’ type of situation when it occurred. I guess you really can't prepare for some things no matter how much you try.

At least there is severance and coupled with other resources I am hoping to be able to rebound from this smoothly. For others who were impacted, I wish you luck!

Believe me, being part of a WFR and leaving with severance can be a good thing. You are on your way to your next job (probably a better one) and those left behind at Dell have to suffer the extra work and the negative fallout for months/years.

If this is your first trip to the rodeo then I suppose it is fair to say you can't prepare for this. If you have been through layoffs ever before, you absolutely should be prepared. The writing has been on the all wall for years...
