Layoff Severance +4 extra weeks, 18mo of paid cobra, faster vesting for stock options. Must decide by Sept 30th...all eligible folks 55yrs old, with 10yrs, and in good standing have been notified.
Restructuring decided by end of Sept at ELT level, no details. Employees affected will be told/exited by end of Oct. Middle mgt already being moved around to focus on "special projects."

Out with the old, in with the new for half the salary which is just like the coal mines we were promised to get back. Who do we vote for? Stupid boomer vs. stupid boomer, just like the over 55 left
I wouldn't worry that much. if the company doesn't need my service anymore, then I am free to take on another chapter of my career.. just as easy as that. don't over complicate things and make a buzz out of this topic.
Based on what has happened with the company over the past 3-5 years, I would frankly be surprised if there were many left that fit the > 55 with 10 years mold.
