2020 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade To Go Virtual

The annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is going virtual amid the coronavirus pandemic, according to Mayor Bill de Blasio.

The mayor made the announcement during his daily briefing, with Macy's expected to release more details later today.

On its website, Macy's released a state that says in part, "For more than 90 years, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has kicked off the holiday season with its signature entertainment spectacle, making it one of the world’s most beloved events. Following our successful, safe and innovative production of Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks, it is our intention to similarly reimagine Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this November."

Actually I feel sad. As a child and even an adult, I have fond memories of watching the parade on TV. I personally believe it brought a lot of "good will" customers to Macy's. Too bad de Blasio is such a jerk and wants to take the fun out of life.

Oh Yes, I was a furloughed Macy's employee and then got the letter saying my position was eliminated (Thank God!) My direct colleagues were great but store management for the most part was unconcerned about the future of the business (so it's not a surprise what's happened, just faster than without Covid.)
