Go back to basics. bring you DWH to 2020+++ (cloud, everywhere!!! W/same functions). play well with others (data in and out), ease of use devops tasks and make it easy to protect the damn thing.
Drop Aster. Drop Hadoop. Drop little thingy things that do many things but are not good at any thing really. Keeeeep it simple easy simple.
Embrace your mistakes & correct the direction. Learn to say no and when to say yes. get rid of bullies (yes all of you) that won't hear no and promise customers things that doesn't exist. Those bullies that complain and backstab instead of helping
I think they just axed the AI team in San Diego. It is naturally not a good thing in general, unfortunately the right one for TD today. The company needs to go to its roots, invest in DWH cloud offering. No more distractions with Aster, ThinkBig, etc. IF (and it is a massive if and unlikely) they pull together decent product, hybrid or multi-cloud - bingo. Having said that, the race is fully on and TD is late and becoming irrelevant
Ever heard of the Gestapo? Imagine that at work. Commercially he was a disaster (lets only ducking have 500 customers) and operationally speaking he imposed two boss ladies who pretended to be god.
The gestapo still controls the amount of oxygen developers are allowed to consume. You would get to jail if you deck didn't use a colour of gestapo liking
Why so much hate for Oliver R? Did he create that much damage being CEO for a year?
I would pull the plug on silly micromanagement, almost dead products with less than 10 resources and duplication of functionality.
Cut on real estate, go virtual, skinny down our tech and smooth out hierarchies to empower boots in the ground.
Ah! Also all those sneaky sales people who put our reputation at risk to make a buck by hiddinf facts from customers and then complaining.
Worried just look for teams not contributing to the conpany value proposition and any group that limits efficient execution.
Several teams and individuals come to mind.
Any idea which teams might get impacted? Any rumors or info? Please share.
To the useless employee that sh$%& his pants for the salary and monthly tribute. Yeah, you bring negative value to the business, you worked here 20 years delivering bananas that is why u may be let go. Keeping skills sharp, let the market judge that as your skewed way of thinking clearly brought TD to this place and time. Own it, u are being served your own jokes
Early retirement has been offered before. It is not offered every time there is a layoff. Every 4 or 5 years it has been offered. This is the first time for 55+, previous offers were 60+.
Was early retirement offered in previous layoffs?
Agree with the previous message sentiment...
what goes around comes around - this is my message for the smart a** who endorsed these layoffs.
Hey to the f—tard that wrote "Finally some good news for investors. Go team Teradata, cut the old branches and let this business flourish for couple years more". F— YOU!!!!
I've been with TD on and off for 20 years. I've kept my skills sharp. I've seen new developers join the company because they knew the latest (insert new dev language here) make the same mistakes over and over and over. This will be a massive brain-drain for the company. You my friend don't know your a– from a hole in the ground. Go laying in a corner and watch as the company crumbles around you. I for one am moving on less stress and less headache. The management of this company is bleeding it dry when their paychecks stay some of the highest amongst Fortune 500.

Probably...
I received the 55+ offer. What happens if I don't 'retire'? Am I to be laid off?
Everybody with the offer should go for it to reduce further blood
I am hoping they will avoid cutting developers too - it's already super slow and this would be horrible.

if they lay off any more devs, development will slow to a snail pace
I think they will happen after the early retirement offer expires which I think is on two weeks
I got a confirmation from my manager about the layoffs in September/October.
Not seeing or hearing anything yet.
Why wasn't the last ceo Oliver R given more time?
More than a month has passed since CEO said layoffs are coming and we still don't know the outcome. I miss Ollie.
"Early Retirement" being offered across EMEA today for all employees over 55 and with at least 10 years at TD.
Middle management there so that senior management only has to show up quarterly to video chats. Time for someone to cut stock options for the squatters. #Greyhairs
Mostly consulting. Lack of need against partner competition. I don't know think that SM and MC have evern been in the same room.
Wow, 4 weeks of pay? That seems... stingy.
Yeah, woo hoo...an extra 4 weeks of pay, 18 months of COBRA, and faster vesting if you are one of the lucky folks around here who actually has stock options. Non-management is not going to find this attractive unless they are literally able to retire and just working for fun...maybe folks in middle mgt might?
Voluntary separation offer across the board goes out 9/15. ELT excepted of course.
any idea whos being targeted or random cuts all over.??
Finally some good news for investors. Go team Teradata, cut the old branches and let this business flourish for couple years more
Needs to be sep to make Q4 look better than Q3
Haven’t seen the start yet... anyone else? Later in the week maybe? Or quarter?
Ever wonder why Dennis Sorenson left TD?
EMEA restructuring announcement is expected this week. That will mean some customer facing roles going.
Which department? Are developers in the list too?
