Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Nice Analysis: Mentions us 'Layoffs' as it decomposes the company's main pull

I did not know until recently the meaning of DGI - 'Dividend Growth Investor'.
I hardly knew what Retirement Investing was - I'm sub-50 in age.
But apparently there have been multiple generations of retirees living on our great Technology.

So the current dividend return (last quarter) for EM stock is 9.4% annually.
About the Mortgage or Safe-Loan rate during Jimmy Carter days.
They tell me that was pretty high times. Oil Embargo and other troubles.

The current 10-year Treasury bond in US is what? 1.2%.

One might think: "Can you beat that? Nearly 10%!!".

This article thinks indeed you can beat it!

Stock price does not affect the debt to equity ratio on a balance sheet. Writing off assets that are impaired would affect the debt to equity ratio. Assuming more debt also affects the debt to equity ratio

They are so desperate to keep their secret secret from unsuspecting investors (who by the way deserve their fate ...) if they cut the dividend the stock price will crash revealing a huge debt to equity ratio. This will take the credit rating down which in turn will hurt their ability to borrow and so on down the death spiral. That's what they are trying to avoid by keeping the dividend at all costs. Of course people and institutions are slowly waking up and that's the bleeding we've been seeing and will continue to see. End state: GE @$9/share, if they are lucky
