Thread regarding GE Digital layoffs

GED positioning to be sold or spun-off?

Does anyone have a clear picture of recent organizational changes that indicate GED could be more easily sold or spun-off?
Or any high level insights?

I'm thinking primarily the Predix suite (Meridium and SmartSignal) but possibly also the legacy GE products (Complicity, Proficy, etc.).

It feels like something big is cooking...

I listened to the conference. The only things that I heard him say was that GED was a good business that has seen tremendous improvement over the last twelve months and that next year they will be able to discuss margins and growth. Is that your reference?

Vague about positive cash flow in 2H, lukewarm analyst reaction, nothing specific to GED, coal was already in power portfolio so no surprise.

He made a lot of statements at the conference. Which one are you referring to?

Hope that you caught Culp’s statement at the conference last week.

Well after the announcement today re coal, there is certainly even less value in Power Digital

Very little value left in either of them. The technology is antiquated, as are many of the people.

Spinning off Digital has been a desire of GE going back some years but Bill Ruh and his leadership team bungled Digital so badly that noone wanted to buy it. Pat Byrne basically has been brought in to cleanup and shape up Digital to such a point that someone will be interested in buying it again.

Hey, does this mean that Coretech and IT Risk/Security cannot be spun off into the world's worst IT services company, likely unable to even retain GE as a customer when compared against other c-appy alternatives?

Ahhh. I still fondly recall some IT Risk senior leadership types getting all excited around 2018 at the prospect of their expected stock options if they became another company, or were bought by some sh–ty existing IT services company dumb enough to fall for their smoke and mirrors Powerpoint slides and lies.

Nothing "Big is Cooking", I was with GED for 2 years; joined via acquisition. While I was there, I was part of a team negotiating a $1B commitment for cloud services. We tried to play off MSFT and AWS. What a disaster. GED leadership fumbled the deal big time. Back then there was noise about GED being acquired by Amazon and/or Microsoft. My contacts at those firms laughed at that idea. GED was far more interesting and valuable back then. Today, no one cares. Worthless asset, and tons of baggage, dead-weight employees and customer liabilities. Nothing "Big is Cooking"...
