Nobody, probably is getting kickbacks from CN on the side. shooting down mass business and pushing goods to CN and FerroMex or forcing goods to ship through panam to the east because BNSF after mass callbacks and pulling all sotrage cant move enough. Not to mention wanting 3500 a load if you dont have a preset contract. Its ok Jimbo Fritzy and the share holders will keep laying off till UP burns. How much business and accounts will we loose in a month when holiday UPS season starts? How many more derailments, sh– engines road failing because they want quick turnarounds in yards to ramps, unqualified managers getting positions and jobs because of who they know and who owes favors? How long will they think we dont read papers watch the news or know better than the b.s. they post on up.com?

Every time there is a change, most all of the employees predict derailments, death, terrible safety numbers, etc. The same predictions happened when the fireman and brakeman were taken off trains, when RCO was implemented, and now PSR. Nothing is going to change and PSR is here to stay, at least until the next methodology of cutting and saving comes along. Unless the FRA is able to prove derailments are being caused by the longer trains, the railroads will not quit running them. We can speculate on the reasons for the derailments, but that is all it is. What we believe to be true doesn’t matter unless you have something to back up your presumptions.
@2zqo I was answering the OP’s question. I never said that I liked the COO, PSR, or UP.
There’s not been a big shift in “major” derailments compared to twenty years ago.
Good point except for those trains back then weren't as long and heavy as they are now. The trains today are rolling on shlt rails with shlt power. Last time I checked the last few dozen derailments weren't runaways. If you go back 2 years ago when they started this, you'd know many people were predicting this. Do you think that's just a coincidence?
Get ahold of yourself. We’ve always had derailments. Remember the one that went off the bridge and landed on a car passing by? Remember the runaway that was headed for LA? Nothing to see here. Those were before PSR and hundreds of others were also.
How much money has been spent on derailment cleanup? How much money was spent on insurance claims against the company for equipment damages(car owners)? How much money was spent on the loss of goods? You say he was hired to oversee the implementation of PSR. How much money do you think they really saved? I remember a train that destroyed a bunch of new cars in Nevada. You cant forget about the recent derailment that took out a bridge and cost an estimated 8-10 million dollars to repair! The CEO posted record profits BEFORE PSR, remember that? I'm sure the thousands of employees that lost their jobs do.
@OP To answer your question:
The COO was hired to oversee the implementation of PSR at UP. He’s done that. Along with the CEO he’s delivered record profits. He is “helping” the shareholders by making the railroad more profitable.
I happen to dislike the CEO (met him more than once; he tries too hard), but UP employees getting worked up over how the company is being run is a waste of their time, because it won’t change until it ceases to be profitable.

This place S—S big time! I sure hope karma takes care of our worthless leaders. BTW I miss Jim Young. I think the RR would be a better place if he was still with us. RIP Jim!
The o’l Canadian is helping himself silly OP! The U.S is all about ruining the lives of the little guy to increase profits for anyone in charge. I am not a liberal but starting to wonder if I should be. This garbage is getting old. It’s like free reign to cheat and steal for whoever is granted the title of CFO or CEO. I am dumbfounded by the lack of accountability that is expected from our lawmakers.
Like most others at the UPRR, he is out to help himself.
Managers should be worried about losing their jobs soon...but oh well McDonald’s is hiring they probably can’t handle that job either
Sounds like a merger on the horizon gentlemen
If you give away the work you could be profiting from, then how's that competitive? Who's cares about the investigating part of it. We're all aware of everyone doing PSR, but thank you for reminding us.
Who’s going to do the investigating? All the railroads are doing some form of PSR so who and what is to investigate there? The board and stockholders obviously like what is going on or else changes would have already been made. The FRA doesn’t care if one railroad funnels business to another one. That leaves pretty much nobody to conduct an investigation. Sorry, but the only thing we have left is to speculate.
The very fact that someone brought that up, tells me that something is going on. If the executives are indeed funneling work to the competition, then I would say they're in very deep shlt. I think the executive team and PSR should be thoroughly investigated. I really dont think that's happening, but it would be nice to see the executives worry for a change
It's the big pyramid scheme! Share holders and top brass$$$$$$
