Thread regarding Southwestern Energy Co. layoffs

why do good people disappear from SWN?

Has anyone noticed that talented, professional, accomplished people who join SWN almost always end up disappearing in the middle of the night? What is going on at a company where experienced geologists, engineers, government affairs people, communications people, business development types, traders, schedulers – all just disappear? The only ones who never go away are the accountants and lawyers.

What’s next in 2020? Covid. Elections. Climate change. Perhaps CEO change!!!!! We need this to happen to avoid layoffs!!!

From my corner her in Tunkhannock, the layoffs are pending, post November 3rd. It’s entirely possible that fracking will be banned and we’ll all be terminated on November 4th depending on who wins. Spend your paychecks wisely.

Wow crazy. An ex employee laid off in 2018 still posts to this board. Me and my fellow employees in DFW read this board daily and laugh at all the people who are gonna lose their jobs cause we are moving to Spring. So anyone who is about to lost their job know of any good realtors cause your house will be on the market? We don’t want your shack cause we made bank at MR and will be in the McMansion category. Please and thank you!

I told my paw paw that I’d never leave from Arkansas and I never did. I really thought my grandkids would be working at SWN. We were promised this from the early leadership. We even mowed our lawn in the pattern of the formula. R squared over A leads to V plus. With that squiggly line. It wadn’t a straight up line. It was a squiggly line. Meant it would have ups and downs. That’s what I learned in my R squares training. Well the wheels fell off! Didn’t seent that coming actually. I wish I woulda saved a bit more of my earnings from SWN before I was laid off in 2018 with the flywheel takeover. I bought a bass boat and a real nice Chevy Z71. Now I make about 40% of what I made at SWN at my new job. But I pledged to my family that I’d never leave home for “greener pastures”. We’re in a pile of debt but God is good.

Layoff thoughts and prayers to those about to close a chapter at SWN and starting a journey through unemployment to a new job at a company that will provide growth and opportunities. As the door closes at Southwest Energy may it open to a better (it will) oil and gas company.

Hey troll poser MR employee. This is not a rumor. Crazy generous relo packages for everyone but you. Hahahaha

So p-ss-d cause we can save a few jobs here in Spring!

Huh??? I’m an MR employee in Dallas and haven’t heard (even a rumor) of a relocation package offered to a single employee. A crummy severance package, yes.

Hearing they are throwing crazy money on relo to Spring for MR staff. Why not use that money to save SWN jobs. No more layoffs!

Don’t you know that the incompetent leader of 2016 is just a scape goat. The real demise has been the Wicked Witch of the North and her pet monkey G. Pretty sure I saw them in the market conspiring who to set up next. I am not 100% sure but there was a mullet and bananas so it had to be them.

Anyone else do their homework yesterday. Saw some “new” faces in Spring. First thought it was a tour for investors or something like that. Nope. Did a search on linkedin and yup it was some MR staff/mgmt. Perfect for 2020!

Who is Navalent and what are they doing? First I’ve heard of this outfit. Sounds like they take companies who have bad leadership (inexperienced executives) and try to streamline it. Interesting.

So a YES to layoff all Spring HSE due to incompetence from a 2016 leader. Sounds about right when I look at other E&P companies.

Well, the report from Navalent came out today. Wow. Can’t believe they said in their reports, and I quote “the HSE team is garbage, rooting back to the “leader” who was there in 2016 but is now a retired energy executive who set this team up for failure”. Apparently they want to bring in some real HSE pros or farm the work out of India. Seems rough. Can’t believe they’re talking about my peers this way. They seemed genuinely very pleased with the HR function. No changes recommended.

I’m a SWN “rising star” and I’m on the fast track and stuff. I’m not even thinking about layoffs, nor should I be. I’m thinking about promotions, raises and titles as I deserve it. There is only so much time to accomplish this in your early 20’s. I’m guessing the new MR staff will be reporting to me.

Anyone hearing that layoffs this week to make room for MR staff? Heard it could be 5% of Spring which isn’t much unless your given a pink slip. Reply back with YES or NO!

Howdy y’all. I am a MR exceeds expectations engineer. I fell out of my chair laughing while reading this board. And btw I will not fill out a accident report as I could not prevent it. All the employees who are making these posts are such whiny brats. At MR it’s like survivor island that’s why we will be promoted to leadership positions 1 year. Good luck you clueless people in Spring.

The biggest problem at SWN that drives out good people is the nut job CEO who has no respect for anyone else's time; is incredibly indecisive and insecure; is threatened by anyone with a point of view and the audacity to share it; and doesn't kowtow and brownose to his bizarre brand of leadership. Where else can you work where the CEO considers it grounds for firing if you mention the name of his former rival (Mark Boling) or discuss where the sustainability effort is going since it's totally petered out. Others from bigger companies won't put up with his antics and childish behavior and leave to find greener pastures.

Because the “good” people have integrity and honestly and can’t buy in to the SWN culture.

The only reason I’m staying put here in Spring is because of the chef and our second to none Market. The world famous egg frittatas are no joke.

Must be an Aggie. That explains the post. I am an Aggie and left for “way” greener pastures in 2018. Know a few that are still in Spring. Sad they believe things are on the cusp of greatness. Stock price disagrees.

Yup I am an engineer in Spring. Dodged every layoff even though I do just enough to get by. I have figured out the “secret” to never being given the pink slip. Don’t ask cause I won’t tell. Just skating thru this stage of my career to pad my resume with all these high profile wells that I have worked on. Going to be a big promotion for me at my next job cause I add Value +. Oh yeah that’s an embellishment like I said I do just enough to skate thru layoffs and pad my resume for when the industry comes around again.
