Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

What will Sperry do now?

According to the article below Baker is downsizing its oil and Gas Services in favor of renewable energy. Shell,BP ar doing the same. Sperry provide MWD services. What are they going to do? In my opinion Sperry should be soldlike sc-ap metal. They have no future in a green energy economy.

"(Reuters) - Baker Hughes is pivoting to customers preparing for the transition to a low-carbon future, bolstering its footprint beyond oil and gas oilfield services, its chief executive said on Tuesday.

The company will continue to downsize its oilfield services and equipment portfolio, CEO Lorenzo Simonelli said at the Barclays CEO Energy-Power conference, putting more emphasis on the energy transition and technology needed for renewables. It has already been shedding some oilfield assets, such as its rod lift and specialty polymers businesses."

OP: Please explain what "green energy" is from your understanding, and also what the "green energy economy" means. If you can explain those terms, I'll have some follow-up questions for you on the economics of oil/gas vs. the economics of "green energy."

Careful, your racism is showing. But you do have a valid point! Only people who are decendants from your race should be boses and tell all the other races what to do.

Divesting Sperry was the right choice. Baker tools and software are far superior. Now that Halliburton is hurting and fracking is dead halliburton is saying that Sperry is making money. Compare to what? There are no good PSL's left in Halliburton and most of the good people have been laid off. Sperry is run and operated by Indians and so is Landmark.

Sperry will rise again. Every year i hear the same thing. Nothing happens. Same POS software group run by a 1960's Star Trek klingon and same POS tools.

I can tell you what Sperry is not going to do. Be a little b–ch PSL and and complain about other PSLs. They know we all work for the same company and even though they were treated like a step child since Halliburton bought them, being #1 at the
Time and sinking to #3 or #4 by getting bled dry by Halliburtin, they worked with the money that was provided. Now they are getting some attention and money and these other spoiled a– PSLs whine like little girl who aren't getting a pony for thier birthday anymore.

I work Sperry. Our group just hired half a dozen engineers and another 4 by end of the year. Money came from our profits. Please explain how your PSL is keeping us all afloat!

Oh you mean the failed divestiture which cost us $3.5bn? Good work. You must be so proud of your achievements. For your next trick are you going to try and give away all our IP? Or maybe you will convince Jeff that buying Weatherford is a good move? What an embarrassment. Pack your job in and go back to your cattle ranch where you belong, leave us engineers to fix your mess.

I do not need to read the P&L. I was involved in the divestiture and there is a reason why the company tried to get rid of Sperry. Inaccurate tools, Terrible surface software etc. Nothing has changed. They have been laying off people since February last year. They are the worst PSL Halliburton has and many clients still refuse to use their tools.

Sperry generates the most revenue out of all PSLs. Read the P&L.

I agree on the clean energy comments. If they had any interest in that, they would have been more focused on "electrifying" equipment. Halliburton Labs is just a joke. I can't imagine anyone wanting to partner with Halliburton in this endeavor! Honestly, there will have to be more reductions if Q3 results are horrible. Sperry should go as well as Consulting and Project Management. No reason to even keep those PSL's alive. Loss leaders for sure.

Maybe it's time for Hal to pivot to repair foundations or lift foundations. Olshan wanted to charge me over $10K to level my concrete foundation on my 35 year old home.

All Jeff wants is to work as long as he can and then take the money and run. Sperry has nothing to worry about. They got ICruise. right! There is a reason why when Halliburton announced they were buying Baker Sperry was the first PSL to get kicked out and replaced by Baker MWD. They simply keep loosing money. They were loosing money before COVID and still loosing money now.

As opposed to Halliburton, which not only has NO involvement in the 'green energy industry", but seems to have neither any capability, or interest in entering it.

Heck, Jeff can't even find a method to continue, or expand Halliburton's presence in the traditional oil and gas industry.
