I really would love to walk away from bp right now, but I want to be employed (paid) while I look for another job. The severance compensation from the EOI just isn’t sweet enough for me to take. Am I the only one? I just wish other companies were hiring now.

I was laid off – I mean, "modernized" – last year after 15+ years with BP. At the time it seemed like the worst thing ever. I liked the job I had, and I was thinking about retirement in 10 years or so.
In hindsight, it was the best thing that could have happened to me. I realize now I was trapped by BP, afraid to look outside because I was too comfortable where I was at. I landed at a much better job and have my severance package (13 months salary) sitting in the bank as insurance in case I find my self laid off again.
This job market is tougher than it was a year ago, but not impossible. Only you can say if you are comfortable with jumping ship, but I'll tell you that life outside of BP is pretty good.
I hope my cheated exbf loser lose his job and get his retribution
I feel sick to my stomach when I even think about the fact that I have to continue working here for the foreseeable future
Dont know what ya'll r b–chin about bp is an excellent place to work! esp westlake! awesome gym, westlake 5, bit fat salaries!
Just remember who you are, and don’t bring it home. If you can do that you can gut it out to a better day.
Nothing is for free though, so just bear in mind the human cost on you.

Many people are in the same boat as you. It is not fun.
Lots of folks in the same boat. But life is what we make it. Staying means you got to swallow it all. Leaving in this job market is tough unless you are a long timer with a good severance. I just hope at the end of the day we can look ourselves in the mirror and feel like we created careers of integrity in addition to financial stability. Hard to do at Bp but I pray not impossible.
