Everyone whose worked for Union Pacific knows the true meaning of where the saying "I got railroaded " came from. They call us, essential, vital & valued, but what they truly mean is we are expendable. This executive team will reach their 55 operating ratio come hell or high water, collect their millions in bonuses &leave. Leaving the repair & rebuilding of the company's business & reputation to someone else.

Take away all company bonuses and then you’ll have G 55
Problem is with US style bonus programs. No matter the target, no matter the ongoing term consequences, management's goal is to get paid. Don't blame them, blame the lame brained interlocking board members who also want their directors to set up targets to get them paid. Decisions should be based on overall longterm health of a business rather than short term (anything less than 5 years) payouts. Bonuses should measure performance over at least 5 years. Just my humble opinion, not in railroad business.
2020 they will be again voted for the worst company to work for!!
It looks to be another Milwaukee Road all over again! Give it a few years... You will see!
That's what's funny about the whole thing. Other companies fight to get to the top. The UP isn't even trying to get to the top. They seem to be very content with being at the bottom. You know damn well the executives saw that article.
They won't have to defend it very hard. No other class 1 came anywhere close to taking that title. They'll probably go undefeated for quite a while.
Union Pacific was ranked WORST COMPANY TO WORK FOR in 2019, like a true champion they are out to defend their title.
