How are things going at ESD, when will the divestiture to HCL will materialize?

@6rue+16P6JyON No hiring surge that I can see, neither in Plano, nor in Prague. Altogether there are 11 open positions in both locations (and some of those are in MFD). Do you have any inside info on unlisted/non-public positions?

You can be pretty sure that any non-vested RSUs will be eliminated in such transfer.

It will be interesting to see when converting over to HCL, how HCL will vest those RSUs.

@6rue+16P6JyON RSUs are based on band and job title. Yes, if you are a lower band it probably wasn't much. Higher bands received significantly more and are at or above the high end of the market. Broadcom stock has been on fire. If it stays even where it is at it is a huge bonus.

Currently EDS is definately hiring, while they get rid of staff in more expensive locations. The hiring locations all seem to be Plano and Prague, and the current TSE's are training their replacements.

People saying the RSU's are good, you are so mistaken. If you've been with CA for a long time, it might look great, but in truth they are not. I left CA/Broadcom shortly after the acquisition, and I have a higher base salary and better benefits incl. RSU's than what Broadcom was offering.

If you cannot get a similar or better offer from another company, it's more than likely the issue is with you and not the market.

@3sge+16P6JyON I've heard the same thing. I have a boat load of RSUs and full severance, no way I would leave voluntarily, but I would definitely rather be RIFed than go the HCL. At least then I get 40 weeks of pay.

BTW, for some people ripping on the RSUs, I guess you work in the valley and have the pick of high paying jobs. The rest of the country generally doesn't have it so good. I've made over six figures in RSUs in the year and a half we've been Broadcom. That was as much bonus as I saw at CA in two decades, and I was ranked in the top third every year. CA would throw you a couple hundred shares at most(at a whopping $25 a share if lucky) and and maybe a couple of grand in bonus, and that was in the best years. To me the Broadcom acquisition was the best thing to ever happen. My team has new funding, more staff, and we're pumping out new code as fast as we can write it. This after over a decade of leaderless malaise.

The ex-CA services at HCL have a slow bleeding, and almost 2/3 more were gone. HCL doesn't layoff, but they can change the employment to hourly salary. With no billable time and zero pay, you are forced out. Also remember that HCL has no severance pay, so the best can happen to ESD people is to be laid off now and walk away with a broadcom severance package.

Being sold to HCL may not be so bad.

HCL may be a bureaucratic mess, but they generally treat you reasonably well. Unlikely that they would force you to come to the office in these Covid times. AFAIK, most ex CA services people (who have been in HCL for over a year now) are all allowed to WFH. I don't believe that there were many layoffs since HCL acquired the old CA Services business (though a relatively large number did leave over the following 12 months.). In fact, the HCL way of solving problems seems to be to throw bodies at it, generally resources in cheaper locations.

HCL have history in this, such as IBM Lotus Notes/Domino.

since when was ESD NOT FOR SALE. sorry but most of the hints are being shopped around looking for whatever s—er wants to buy in. not being harsh but everything Hick has is for sale at the right price if he's got an alternative that will drive more cash flow.

that's how Private Equity companies work. And hick is running us like a PE firm. having worked for a PE firm portfolio conpany i known this firsthand.

I am also seeing the same with my team. We have hired 4 new support engineers in 4 weeks. However, several on my team were put in transition in February and will be leaving on Sept 18 or Sept 25. All new hires have been in Plano, Texas so far. Have a feeling they are cutting high priced engineers and hiring cheap in centers where help is cheap!

That is very interesting. My team is hiring yet at least two of us have little to do. We even asked our manager. Is there a big project on the horizon? Nope. So why are we adding staff? No answer, he moved on
