Thread regarding Optum layoffs

RIF vs COVID Layoffs do we qualify for COVID money?

We have noted that our company has said they are NOT laying off due to COVID. Yet we have been laid off during COVID times. Can people please share if they received the extra payments? Recently, we have as a country been approved for $300-$400 extra depending on your state. I haven’t seen this in my unemployment nor did i see the extra $600. However, I was laid off at the very tail end of the $600 benefit. We could use the extra money, I am looking however, until I secure a job, we really need the extra. I am nervous we don’t qualify b/c if the company said they did not lay off due to COVID then will we still? Thanks all.

Got laid off too, nothing yet, we'll see.....not counting on anything given how corrupt that place was.

They told me the same thing I got laid off in June and they said that because it wasn't because it wasn't held for the extra month they were so long and I got the extra money.

American's magazines/"news" papers were simply corporate marketing/propaganda to sell the dream to dreamers, and other delusionals.

What was it about facts, truths, and evidence that scared US-ian employees so much?

Here is an article from Forbes that details by state. I had the same question since UHG is saying how fabulous they are not to have any layoffs due to COVID! What a bunch of BS going on, truly. Best of luck my state won’t have it until next week, but then it’s retroactive to Aug 1st.

Check with your state unemployment office. Mine says "an individual must have attested that they are unemployed as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic." So when they distribute the money, I assume I don't get any.

Depends on when and what state you were Rifd. If it was around the time of the August expiration you may only be eligible for standard unemployment in your state. The extra 300 would be determined again by your state and whether they are participating in the new program but it would be retroactive once your approved etc. Covid will not impact either way as a reason for your RIF. Other programs do like the Eviction moratorium. Good luck with your search

If you lived in a real country, not a corporation/business opportunity masquerading as a "country," you would have 80-90% of your salary, guaranteed job waiting for you after Tom Hank's Disease, and no worries of health care.

As long as you were laid off during these times you are covered. Does not matter if the company states it was due to COVID. I was laid off before COVID and I have qualified for all the extensions and additional amounts.

Look up the lost wages act and determine if your state adopted it. If so you qualify for an additional $300 per week. This is retro back to July 25. California has adopted it. Best wishes to you.

I got one week of the 600.00. My severance and PTO weeks covered up through the prior week so I was eligible only for the very last week of that. But my understanding is that I will not be eligible for the additional 300.00 because my layoff was not directly related to Covid. (Which is BS because I am certain that my inability to find a new job is still due to Covid.)

But that rule may vary by state. Maybe you'll have better luck. My state has not yet paid the 300.00 to anyone as far as I know.
