Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

I can't take it anymore .. should I wait around here or not?

Is there any upside? Are the missing positions in EMEA a sign that we are actually prepping for a sell?

Yeah best to leave. I'm sure there is a 3-6month temp gig in the market for you somewhere. Just be prepared to go up against 1000 or more candidates as the unemployment levels are so high and positions are ultra competitive

Teradata was a good place to work a few years ago but now it’s terrible. Management especially upper management (VP+) don’t care about the rank and file at all. They don’t even try to hide now. Greedy soulless a–holes.

Job security is essential, especially in reflection to other companies and tech scene. So happy to leave this toxic company 6 months ago. There are jobs out there u might actually enjoy doing, rather than waiting to be shot down. Pride of working is great driver. Bonus was paid, time to go

Prep for the sale is the only reasonable explanation why a CEO would take on a role in this company at this time. I just refuse to believe he sees good Long term future for the company.

When will the majority of the layoffs be completed?

To the 30 year veteran. I’m so sorry. It is a good reminder to all of us to always remember our priorities. And the job is not or should not be #1

You are just a cost in a spread sheet. Get another position anywhere else. I was there for 30 years focused on service delivery and not on my family. Missed kids graduation from high school and college. Not one vacation for 20 years. Checked email and issues 7/24. One day got meeting request and let go. Teradata has lost their way. So sad,,,lll,

Letting us know about layoffs right before a holiday is something only 45th would do. We are uncertain about our future while SM and DS are excited about the future.

I fought so hard to land a job here, I've been proud to be here, and I want TD to succeed so badly. I've struggled all week to just find motivation to do my job, let alone my best job, and its impossible to do some days because I fear it just won't matter if I get a HR meeting notice in the next 4-8 weeks. Leadership is not saying anything, I have to read my managers reactions, assume far more than I ever should...and all I want is to know where I stand. Job security is nice, but they could provide warn notices with 60-90 days and let people have a shot, make sure those even at risk know they are...and for those not at risk, let them know things are good for now. If TD really cares about us...then put forth the same effort for diversity/inclusion into job transparency.

I understand your frustration... So, why should you wait? This boils down to your personal circumstance (pay etc) and your level of frustration and/or thinking the grass is greener. Teradata is constantly (frustratingly) always changing. We've had so many CEOs and so much indecision and re-direction and lack of clarity that I am surprised most people are still here. I am hoping (not confident) it will get better. It is tiring, exhausting and franking just destroys motivation and moral the longer it goes on.

There is always opportunity in chaos. Be calm. I've quit from several jobs just before the company was bought or reached the goal. There are so many opportunities out there should you decide to move on - there is no reason to rush. Wait to see how it all unfolds.
