Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Closing competition...please add

Jc penny 8 weeks in this roud
Gordmans ,Bealls,Stage stores. 4 weeks in
Pier one 8 weeks in
Lord and Taylor all just started 8 weeks
Macys just a few
Office max. Varies per location
Stein Mart. 3 weeks in.

Thats a lot of fixtures, merchandise, bulk buys and consumer shopping. Perhaps HE is waiting until these get to the end and then take advantage of traffic.

Connect the dots people there waiting for when the other stores have concluded liquidation sales before announcing another round of store closing

The timing or closing rate of brick and mortar competitors is irrelevant...
Sears and Kmart are dying regardless.

The key question is if and when all those retailers close up shop, how much business will go to other brick and mortar retailers....versus how much more business will shift to Amazon and other online retailers.

Even within Sears itself, when several Sears stores in our district closed, some associates then assumed that our store would pick up business and sales due to the fewer Sears stores open nearby.

Instead, sales continued to slide and our store ended up closing as well.
