I am so glad to have a job I could care less about loyalty. As long as the check cashes and I am not being taken advantage of the money keeps my family going during these tough times. Throw in the health insurance and benefits and I am very thankful to have what I have for now. The only loyalty I need is from my wife and family. That is where I would expect loyalty to come from, and not from any company. Those days of being married to your company are over forever.

Many years ago, Oxy was a great place to work. Management role was political and hard to come. But you were compensated well. Raises/bonus. Now management role is based on just who likes you. There are a lot of worthless mid managers. I work with a White guy who got promoted because he was liked, but is the dumbest dullest tool in the shed. They had to dumb down his work and give him less responsibility. Yes, this is a real story. He didn't even have to interview for that position. Sadly, this has been a common practice lately. Look at these "diverse" hirings. I am all for equality, but I am against hiring based on color/gender.

From LAPC perspective the culture is terrible. No trust, micromanagement, lack of respect, no empathy. These are the traits the SVP rewards and it permeates the organization like a cancer. There is no leadership; only heavy handed management.

Middle management treat the employee as slaves to do so many redundant and no value adding work
All layers of management are clueless and have no idea of direction
Resentment after resentment
Need icann to clean the house if we want to survive

I agree with the comment below. Very bad culture in the land department starting with both VPs.

Not that I am aware of. But that is a great idea to have those testimonial meetings. This could be just like safety meetings. This could be done while people are working from home.

Does Oxy have meetings that involve core values moments and/or safety moments where a brown noser stands up and presents to the group a time when they practiced 'Integrity and Trust' to solve a problem, or they looked both ways to cross a street at a crosswalk? Those were really times.

Nepotism everywhere. Especially in the land group. Promoted based on who your dad knows, not what you know.

To the poster below:
Diverse huh? Weird that you then state women are being given roles thst they are not qualified for ... that doesn't scream diverse but instead sounds like something else.

Diversity. LOXY was more diverse. LAPC was pretty white pale. Now women’s are popping up into leadership roles their don’t qualify or are giving job opportunities and promotions like never before. We have an organization ready for high oil prices which may come too late. Cut the middle managers fat. They don’t add much to the bottom line.

The culture is clearly a product of its leadership. Ego driven loudmouths suppress any open collaboration and ideas that differ from the mainstream. Rewards go to those who kiss the best. Arrogance and ignorance runs rampant throughout middle layers of the org. Communication from leadership is nonexistent and is not encouraged and in fact its openly ignored when identified as a gap. Blind faith in VH is increasingly being mocked more and more in the open. And lastly, employees do not have a voice or representation and we are instead fed lies about our desires. An example of such.. "Everyone wants to get back to the office so we can work more efficiently." NO ONE IS SAYING THIS!

Sounds like a fun place right?
