Detroit was an Immelt jobs initiative site. As was New Orleans (closed now), Glen Allen Virginia (ISTC site and others(?). Honestly, I thought those were noble ideas at the time, but with a shrinking GE and moving the "center of gravity" to the remaining businesses, none of them are appropriate to maintain long-term. Sorry for the people who uprooted families to move to those cities thinking they could call GE home.

Yes, slowly waking up to the reality that the empire of GE, complete with far flung duplicate facilities albeit fewer business lines, is not realistic going forward

Aviation, Healthcare and Capital have done layoffs in the Detroit office this year. Healthcare actually quit Detroit for good although they still have remote workers. Detroit office itself is now down to just 1 building from the original 3 and maybe 300 workers from over a thousand workers 3 years ago. The writing is on the wall and I doubt this office will be there in another 18-36 months.

Not many left from Digital. Most people moved to Aviation or Power DT. Aviation DT is now called DISE. Site had about 1200 employees few years ago now now about 350 and shrinking. Probably will not exist in a couple years.
