I heard from Pratt Whitney 17-20% reduction by years end. So they have to give notice.

Latest is they silenced upoer management and management doesnt know the deal. So when it does drop it is more tham likely going to be swift and hard. They have had enough time to prepare the logistics. We have lived through enough of them to know this one is going to be a whopper.
Any updates? I hear today or tomorrow they’re dropping the hammer
im there now.. they did hire too many hourly. i was shown the parking lot 2x times in 40 years
Hey @7hpm+16KFKW8A want to hear some irony. Back in the 90s Raytheon was doing poorly and looking at Bankruptcy. But, then acquired Hughes Space, and Hughes Missile systems the books looked good. Want to know why? Because of the large Pension fund Hughes Heritage people had.
Ah the things business people do.
It’s true, they told us yesterday that between today and Oct. 15th they would shed 15-20% across the board
The Raytheon side is not being affected at all? Looks like UTC saved themselves by buying Raytheon. That is what is keeping them alive.
Pratt and Whitney page is buzzing. Anyone have any info on who's getting let go? What parts of the business?
"and for such a highly ethical based driven company"
Is this sarcasm?
Last I checked, we work for a company that specializes in building stuff to k–l & hurt people...
They are doing a psychological number on their employees and for such a highly ethical based driven company that is not only inconsiderate to do to your work force but wrong. If you are going to enforce a lay off action then by all means please just do so.
Higher ups in my area of PW said layoffs are coming in October. I have a feeling they may already be starting.
Remember that warn notices aren’t required in natural disaster situations. Many large companies are not giving formal notice.
They had originally said a couple months ago that it would probably be somewhere towards the end of September, maybe early October, but I'm not sure we're still on that timeline anymore. If they laid us off in December or something it would be a real jerk move cause no companies are hiring around then. Collins laid people off already not sure why Pratt is taking so long. Will be interesting to see which departments get hit the worst and whether they target high paid people or younger people who aren't able to contribute as much.
The fact that they said “it will look different from the commercial side” is an indirect admission of defensive sides layoffs. We all knew that they had plans to do it but they have yet to openly come out and say it. What they told you there is an accidental admission. Good to know most of us were correct. Just a matter of when. My guess is holiday time.
They’ll keep being coy about it until they drop the hammer. As far as the low performance comment. That’s just a generic fog they can hide behind to justify whomever they let go. Nobody questions anything when you say they were underperforming.
In yesterday's all-hands meeting for military, they were still being coy about how the layoffs will play out, other than saying it'll look different from the commercial side and they'll targeting "low performers" (whatever that's supposed to mean).
Unlikely they actually take anyone. While they’re obligated to offer the position to current employees, these layoffs are viewed as an excellent opportunity to trim back high paid employees and replace with lower waged folks. Also, don’t for one second think that all this won’t make its way to the defense side at some point also. It will, it will just be delayed.
Seems they are still hiring on the defense side. Will they offer P&W and Collins opportunities to move to that side of the house?
