Obviously, they need to post jobs broadly because nobody with options would want to work at Staples!

Staples doesn’t post Exec roles normally - they go to the folks that can deliver the compliments and obedience required. Results don’t matter - just the ability to tow the line, no matter how nonsensical the line may be.

Exec leadership should focus on the discrimination in the company and the favoritism instead of the world issues. Clean up your house first. If not just a lot of rhetoric and nobody cares what your opinion is if you are that disconnected from what is going on through biased hiring and promoting practices.

This level position never gets posted and ageism at Staples is a real thing. Predecessor was forced to look elsewhere and this was orchestrated by Exec level for someone that is not qualified for this role. Inclusion at Staples- don’t think so. No proven track record and rides the coat tails of those beneath them. Poser in more ways than one.

I wish they had posted the role instead of just plugging in RQD. I had been practicing my warrior pose, I purchased a high-end camera for my husband to take staged photos of me that were designed to look unscripted, and I was planning to drive around in an empty parking lot without wearing a seat-belt to show that I am fearless. Oh, and during COVID, I have been doing a lot of "leaning in", but it has primarily been leaning into the pantry to grab some Oreos, and then leaning into the fridge to grab some milk.

My kids are grown and gone, so I was looking into renting some of the neighborhood kids to use as props for my LinkedIn and Facebook posts, but I will now save the money and use it for a good resume writer. Probably for the best - at my age, I would probably jamb my neck if I tried to stand on my head, and I am not sure if my homeowner's policy would cover the medical bills for me and the neighborhood kid I would land on.

Be careful not to say RQD or the moderator will remove you.

The world is a crazy place right now. There are a lot of things wrong and they won’t all be fixed. Most people are doing the best they can. There are too many battles to fight, so pick the ones you are passionate about and let the others go. If some of the things posted on LinkedIn irritate you, then quit following them. If you don’t like your job, find another one. The leaders aren’t going anywhere, so stop waisting your energy. There is plenty of stress in life these days, so don’t create more by worrying about things you can’t control.

Could not agree more; ageism is rampant at Staples. Uncle Sandy is wearing everyone out with his lectures on racism, but he allowed some of the best leaders within Staples ( all over 50) to be cut and replaced with a group of Millennials that aren’t performing anywhere near the level of those that were terminated. I guess he picks and chooses which “isms” he is okay with. SB was hands down the best business developer Staples ever had, and people loved working for him. RD was the best leader I have ever worked for, and his teams were always top performers. KM was a dynamic, energetic motivator that ran circles around the person that was kept instead of him. My guess is that they took him to completely eliminate the final member of the NR era. The list goes on! Every RVP that was cut was over 50!

Not sure if JG made those moves for optics, to please Uncle Sandy or because he really believed they would be good for the business, but I can’t believe there hasn’t been an ageism lawsuit filed against Staples, or maybe there has been! Even if they had kept the great talent that was replaced by the ones who appear to spend their days creating “unauthentic narcissistic” selfies for LinkedIn and Facebook, it would only have delayed the inevitable demise of the company. Even MH, the poster child for the new and improved Staples that was tasked with making Staples “cutting edge” again is jumping ship! It didn’t take her long to realize that some old, outdated, ships without a competent captain at the helm can’t be saved.

Ageism is a real at the highest levels of the company. And they are older than most that they have discriminated. Discrimination is real and it’s age discrimination at Staples. Glad I left on my own terms.

Not sure leader is a word I would use to describe. Feedback from teams led have always been doesn’t lead, doesn’t return emails or voicemails, and takes credit for work done by those beneath the title. Also have heard bully when used to describe and a poser when it comes to promoting women. Only promoter of oneself. Karma is real.

I am surprised she is still working- haven’t seen anything but selfies and nonsense posts ever. Pre and post covid. What a waste of a VP title. Queen of KISSing you know what at the Clevel and that C-level eats it up and values that more than real contribution. Sad but true.

LMAO and the reference to “young leader” speaks volumes towards the agism at Staples. The fact this this person is recognized for their ego and their Narcism from one post speaks volumes

Individually we move fast, together we move further. The narcissism and egos of people, at all levels, at Staples is off the charts. It’s rewarded over actual results and building a collaborative environment. It’s a MAJOR reason for the decline of this org over time.

Someone get her a desk. A VP for Staples working off a laptop on a stool is not a good look. Did she not think of that when she posted the picture? Embrassing
