Thread regarding Apache Corp. layoffs

They want you in the office so Thunderdome can scream about someone not making more coffee after getting in late from a vendor trip to Pebble Beach.

Functional or non-functional?
At a place like this, they should clarify this role as “Function Line Leader” or something. Functional and Apache—doesn’t go together lol

So, how is your new functional manager working for you?

If they had any sense they'd dish out a stipend for home office equipment. You could probably even make an argument that the company should cover internet costs while this thing persists. but they haven't done that so I probably agree with the previous poster. This is the end of the line and its why we are all just hanging in suspense. Those Ascend mo–ns who were brought in already got paid and bonuses. They're on the verge of jettisoning various groups (assets, not employees) to the highest bidder.

Large groups are okay with not returning to the office and have financial positions.

Yeah it really depends on your group. My group and the type of employees I work with ALL want to go back to the office. But honestly you can probably rest easy; I'd bet a significant chunk of change that the company is actually in the process of filing for bankruptcy, so few or none of us would be going back anyway.

Just seems like a perfect time for them to pull the trigger on the restructuring. We are all out of the way and they can drop the lease at POC quite easily.

I’ll disagree on one point. Everyone I talk to wants to go back to the office in some capacity, and would prefer the hybrid approach. These are technical teams, where it’s a bit more difficult to effectively work in isolation from home.
