Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Why is it so quiet out there. If stores are to close by 12 20 20 then shouldn't we be hearing something Jack...

The statement by LMJ is false. I watch my pot of water for pasta successfully boil over a couple nights per week.

Same here from the Sears side. There are still 67 non-closing locations that are listed as "Sears Store"s on the Sears.com store locator. 59 of these are full-sized stores, and 8 of them are various kinds of small formats.

(Yes, there are also a few hundred Sears Hometown stores, as well as some scattered stand-alone Sears Auto Centers and "Service Centers Repair Drop off Locations", but I have made no attempt to list or count these.)

Jack here. I Know people are wondering and asking, why I haven't posted much lately. Sadly, the reason is, that I haven't had any closing news to report. I scour the internet often, for closing links, but simply haven't found anything lately, so frankly, I didn't have anything to report. I handle the Kmart counts/lists, and Ron usually handles the Sears end of things.

At least, as far as my end of thing go, we are still stubbornly stuck at 34 Kmarts (Brooklyn is a Sears and does NOT count), and the number has refused to budge below that. As soon as I have some closing news, I will be the first to post it and adjust the map/list, but I haven't seen any new Kmart closings announced in quite a while, so we're kind of stuck in a holding pattern until I get some more.
The recent JLL lease listings looked promising, but upon contacting that realty firm, they replied to me by email that those locations are merely just available, but should nobody lease them, then Sears has no intention of closing them as of now, so they are open indefinitely, as of now.
I guess we'll get them eventually. As the expression goes, A WATCHED POT NEVER BOILS.

TL/DR: I haven't posted recently because there has not been any new closing news, at least on the Kmart end of things, for quite a while.

Why are comments defending the original post being downvoted while comments critical of the original post are getting upvoted?.....meaning others feel the same way.

Sounds like you are in reality the OP crying when anyone disagrees with your posts.

Thin skin to be irritated. Must be a weak person as it is just an info board, maybe his or her daddy should have been nicer to them and they would not be feeble and weak.

That person or people keep(s) asking the same question day after day however which is what irritates people.

As the country and the world explodes keyboard warriors and insults behind the screen continue. The person asked a question and you took time from your day to belittle them. Hope you feel good today about your life

@1chq+16IU1cGb: You are wrong about that. Look at the link under "Faltering Company." COVID is going to change the way things operate as we are living in very unusual times.

The same person posting over and over and over asking about the closing list with the same results every time. "Hey Dad...are we there yet? How many more miles? When are we gonna get there? ....Hey Dad...Dad....Dad...Dad? DAAAAAAAD?!?"

@rhd+16IU1cGb Hogwash...the WARN act requires businesses to give 60 days notice of a pending shutdown. There are no stipulations tied a ppp loan or grant regarding the number of days a business is required to give notice.

Nothing will happen until at least September 1st as the PPP converts from a loan to a grant after August 31st. After the 1st, businesses that took the loan must give employees a 2 week notice if they are letting employees go. This isn't to say businesses will close after Sept 1st, but certainly won't close before then or they will have to repay that money to the govt.
