It is very unfortunate layoffs happened. I worked there 18-1/2 years and I was affected too. I can not say anything but good things about this great company. I have worked in MFG since 1985 so everyone in that industry knows that layoffs are part of that world.. I agree, being laid off is challenging and scary but you will get through it. Don't become bitter and angry because it's not worth it. I have no doubt, the owners of GA/ASI and upper management did the best they could as long as possible not to layoff people. So I'm sure circumstances were out of their control and they had no choice to let go of people. What does upset me is this. Why did Purchasing allow so many vendors to over charge GA for materials, furniture, computer equipment and office supplies? All employees should have managed budgets like if it was coming out of their own pockets and not so carelessly. Then there was the HUGE waste of materials that were sc-apped and built over and over when not needed. We grew too fast and spending got out of control. I'll be praying and asking God to open the heavens and pour out a blessing of work over the entire company. It's been the best company I have ever worked for and I still have family and good friends working there. So I pray that through it all, GA will once again be a prosperous company. May God help everyone to overcome these difficult times.

There will be more rounds of layoffs. I don’t know wether the people let go should be happy or sad. If anyone just looks at the forecast numbers and expenses they will see that more layoffs are ahead. GA’s current management is not in touch with reality. To keep hiring knowing there was nothing in the pipeline either shows total incompetence or wanting to push certain people out. Either way it’s a pretty bad conclusion. For the people who think they are lucky... read this post 6 months from now and see if you’re still lucky

the 2021 budget will call for more layoffs come January of that year. maybe attrition will cause the numbers to drop but people are scared during this pandemic and are less likely to leave because of all the negative job reports

I saw really good professional engineers and technicians go. This was a number based on favoritism. in other words, a second wave is coming.

This is a weird thread. One guy post an old article but posted an updated article that basically says the same thing the first article says. Then another guy, probably someone from GA management or HR tries to say that 6% is normal and they are not connected with GA in anyway - talk about a weird statement. Truth probably some where in the middle... not the end of the company but more layoffs in the future. But the turnover at GA is very high so maybe no more layoffs will be needed. Maybe the people that fall asleep at their desk will be required to work and production will go up

Are you saying 300 aircraft weren’t canceled? Are you saying that GA won another contract to replace? Are you saying there are no future layoffs next year? If so I have a bridge in Brooklyn that is for sale I can give you a great price on.

Misinformation. 7 years old. Disclaimer - I don't work and have never worked for GA . 6% is typically what most companies do. also, for a company that has NEVER had a layoff (or so the posts say)? that's unheard of and actually not a good thing. Sometimes you gotta let people go to survive. SpaceX, Boeing, etc. do it all the time.

Even the 2020 forecast articles are bad! Over a 300 aircraft cut this year. No new contracts in the pipe to replace current forecast! Please be prepared!

I did notice massive budget cuts for next year. This article is numbing. I know I was lucky this round but who knows next round. Also the moral of the company will just keep deteriorating and who wants to work in a place like that. Thank you for sharing this article. I should have done more research.
